   Does anyone else's baby spit up through their nose? Should I be concerned?
   
   My 4 month old, breastfed baby has recently started leaking milk through his nose while he feeds. Has anyone else experienced this with their baby?

   My oldest used to do that although it was just a teeny bit. Sometimes it would come out more when he sneezed! I think it's just normal, it's all connected, and a lot of babies are in a lying down position when they eat. Ever try to swallow something laying down? If you're really concerned though, you could contact your pedi. Hope this helped!

   Babies do this - a lot - but only for the first few weeks, maybe a couple months. They have an overactive letdown, so as they nurse, they fill up so quicky, and spit up -big time- when burped. You could pump a little bit before feeding him, this will make it easier on the baby - Freeze what you pumped for later. Anyway, After the first few weeks, your body & your baby will adjust to each other (nature is a wonderful thing) and the spit-up will stop all together.

   As the other poster stated this could be due to an over active letdown. Another option is to breastfeed laying down with baby on their tummy on top of your tummy. It is an odd position that takes a little getting use to but it helps. Gravity keeps you from overloading the child when letdown happens. Now not to alarm you but if this continues I would mention it at his next check up. There are some RARE illnesses where this would be a symptom. However you probably just have a normal little man getting too much of a good thing at one time!

   My daughter used to do this, I was told it is perfectly normal as they haven't yet learned to close of the nasal passage fully when they feed. It happens also when they try to breathe through their nose during feeding, as small amounts of milk can sit at the top of the throat and be carried through into the nose when they breathe out.
