Have you been following the Paralympics. What do you think of the games coverage?

How has the television presentation of the Paralympics been in other countries? Here in Britain the coverage on C4 has been superb - impressive coverage of the events , but also good explanation of all the disability categories, and what the sports stars have overcome to get here. What's more, the coverage has been refreshing, dispensing with political correctness in interviews in which athletes are relaxed and totally unpatronised, even making fun of their own disabilities and the sometimes unexpected problems they bring about. The Olympics were impressive, but this is really inspiring stuff.

I loved the coverage of the Olmpics, here in Australa we had about 8 paid channels to choose from.  The paraolympics is a different story. We have one channel, showing virtually only Australian athletes ( fine if you are Australian). I would have loved the same choice as we had or the Olympics and happily would have paid for it.

Shame there's so little coverage. By the way, 'dispensing with political correctness' relates to a late night Paralympics review presented by Australian, Adam Hills (who has only one foot) - it's light, open-minded and unpatronising about disability.

I'm from Portugal and followed the Olympics 2012 on around 2 or 3 channels. When the Paralympics started, I tried to watch on TV but the channels weren't transmiting. I did watch part of the cerimony, though.
Now I just follow it on their website.

Thanks pcabral. Understandable but sad about the coverage. The Paralympics is about triumph over adversity, courage and desire, and about being treated 'normally' with all the human strengths and weaknesses of the able bodied - it deserves to be seen
