   Is "The Occupy Movement" a waste of time?
   
   Is anyone taking them seriously? Why or why not? Does civil disobedience accomplish anything? In what cases has it been successful?

   Yes, it was a waste of time. Such a movement should have being a long term movement and develop to a party (like the tea party). Nobody took control of this potential political power, I keep wondering why. Where is the point to protest if at the end, there is no noticeable result? Did Wall-Street pay for the damages made on the economy? No, JP Morgan was absolved of its sins!

   No.  I think it was quite ramble-shacked and discombobulated.  And it also didn't quite "bring down" the wall street buccaneers, it DID however engage a rather apathetic youth into arena of US politics.  I myself being one of them. 
   
   I'm twenty six and have never voted.  I've tried time and time again to get into politics but I can't.  Every time I watch a debate, or see someone speak I can never seem to get anything substantial out of it.  Whenever a politician is asked a question, I feel like they dodge it and talk about something completely different. 
   
   And yes I will admit that the "occupyers" did not seem to be highly sophisticated or knowledgeable but at the same time, how can anyone even form their own political opinion anymore?  With all the lying, smearing, bullet dodging, and finger pointing going on, it's impossible to even take politics seriously. 
   
   So Occupy was not a successful movement in and of itself, but it has served as a catalyst for other movements.  And I honestly do not think that it's over.

      I agree with the message that they have been trying to send, but I think if they want to have a real impact they will have to be better organized and try to be more relate-able to conservatives as well as liberals.

      Cont'd.  recognized that that's where corruption came from which is a neat idea but isn't going to work if they hope to make a real impact.   They are going to have to organize and start pushing specific issues.  Look up David Seaman for congress

   This interesting. I asked this question because I saw that today the "Movement" is celebrating it's one year anniversary. They are once again marching on Wall Street but no one seems to be paying attention. All the answers thus far refer to "Occupy" in the past tense. Perhaps this speaks to their success or lack of?

      I totally agree.  I feel like the people of the movement do come across as a bunch of hapless  fecks, but the reason they are so disorganized is because they don't want to centralize their power to any one person or group because they have recognized
