Is anyone experiencing major earnings swings?

I didn't mind so much when they were trending upward, but now they are falling:(

Yes, but it is traffic driven.  I have noticed a trend of traffic degradation over the past few weeks.  My highest days are still my highest, but at lower traffic levels.  My biggest concern is this new system of idling hubs.  While I understand the concept and the theory that Google will rank HubPages higher due to more searched and relevant content, it is hitting hubs that I haven't started to market yet.  I believe that you need to season any new page for a while before you begin SEO.  With this system, I have a couple of Hubs that have been idled before I have had the chance to season.

Given that Google seems to crawl Hubs less often these days, this could become a real problem for new material with competitive key words.  There is no question in my mind that many will move off this platform if they aren't able to leverage it.  The beauty of HubPages is/was that you could use the platform’s Google juice to get solid search results in fairly short order, but it does still take time to move up the ranks.  If you are idled before you have that opportunity, it would make sense to find other alternatives.

I am so frustrated with this. Not only are earnings less, but I just checked my earnings again and they actually deducted  10cents from what it was telling me earlier this morning. This has never happened before.

I was also deducted 8 cents today - very frustrating.

Yeah, that happened to me this week too.  It was only like 10 cents or whatever, but was kinda irritating.

I was experiencing earning swings since the beginning of this year. My account remained earning a very humble amount throughout the first months of this year.
Traffic to my hubs has increased a little throughout the month of September, and this month has increased like a 10% more than last month.

I think that the coming Christmas season is going to attract lots of traffic for all hubers.

I submitted 6 hubs last month and they have all done pretty well traffic wise but I only earned 13 cents more than the previous month - I have started doing some writing elsewhere as I am a bit frustrated with Hubpages right now.

Thank you Conservative Lady. May I ask where you are writing? I am thinking about making a switch too.

I have written 2 articles on Textbroker and made $7.00 dollars in 3 days. not a fortune by any means but more immediately satisfying.

I completely tanked this month after a pretty good August.  I read a hub that said whatever you do don't have the word you link to in the URL,  I tweaked some hubs and they did go up.  I am now mad that Google is registering links with the names of the link as spam.

You mean if my url is vintage clothing,  I better not have an anchor text that says vintage clothing?

My hubs are pretty dead right now.  And this idling is definitely stressing me out too. I can understand if an older hub just isn't cutting it, but HP keeps idling hubs that are only 1 or 2 months old!  How are new hubs supposed to mature and start drawing traffic if HP keeps de-indexing them?!

    Irritating...

I still enjoy the community here, but I"m having second thoughts about committing time to writing for this platform.  At least when I publish on my own blogs, I don't have to worry about them being de-indexed before they have a chance to mature and move up in the rankings.

I feel your pain Skarlet, but hopefully Google's mood swings will be temporary, and we'll start getting traffic on HP again before too long.

    Aloha!

I had a major earning swing earlier this year when my very meager account was suddenly closed without explanation. To top it off, all my earnings were also confiscated with no explanation. I was primly notified that I could appeal it, if I wanted to waste my time. I politely declined.

I am told that it happens all the time and that Adsense is very tyrannical about it. Even if you get reinstated, you still lose what you had earned.
