If there is no NHL season, what hockey will you follow?
If there is no NHL-NHLPA agreement what hockey will you follow? Will it be college, AHL, OHL, USHL, or NAHL?
I have 3 sources of hockey in mind...college div I & III, ahl and echl...if that does not work I will buy all the winter classics dvds )
I have been getting more interesting in Junior hockey in the last few years. I find it more entertaining and more exciting than the Pro game now. If the NHL decides to blow off another season of greed and treat their fans with the usual contempt so be it. I really don't care. Hockey is a great sport and it's amazing how "good" it can be when watched and enjoyed away from those who have turned the game into a money grab.
Having had sons play hockey from Mites to Midgets and High School teams, including some AA and AAA travel teams, I may just go to a local rink and watch Mites (the youngest age group) play. They play with an innocence and love of the game that can't be matched at any level, amateur or pro.
I am going to be really pissed off if the NHL does this again. What are you thinking?
There is a high school hockey team in my neighborhood that has won a couple of state championships, but not lately. I'll be paying more attention to them.
My son used to play for the Pgh Hornets. Was the HS team, Mt. Lebo? I may head to Hershey when Providence plays the Bears. I'd like to see Pgh native and my son's former defensive partner, Matt Bartkowski play.
Nope, not Mt. Lebo. Further north. Meadville. 8 state championships from 1987 to 2003. Go Bulldogs!
I knew 1 or 2 kids that played there and in Pgh when we lived in Erie. Would have been 2001-2003, then my son went away to school.
I'll be watching my son's team--the Junior Carolina Hurricanes Bantam AA league, the Frozen Four and Miracle on Ice for the bazillionth time!
Best of luck to your son this season. I miss youth hockey. Frozen Four is in Pgh this year. Tickets went on sale 10/1 for priority 16 purchasers. I am a priority 10 so I'll get my tickets soon. I like Hockey East and the Maine Blackbears.
Hockey only gets interesting after the all-star break when the players feel the need to try a little harder. It would be great if the season just started then.
We will follow the AHL , Junior hockey and of course my son's Travel Hockey Club!
Thank you Banks my son's team is off to a good season. As for watching youth hockey I honestly have to say it is just as fun to watch as the Pro's but the innocence and just plain joy that these kids have while playing the game is what is the best.

During the Olympics this year, a recent surge in popularity has hit hockey. Which is something that this sport might actually need. Now pretend for a moment you were the comissioner of the nhl, now how would you capitalize and promote your league after the success of the olympic hockey...

should the government fund an NHL hockey arena with taxpayers money?is it right to use tax money to pay for an arena for a NHL team when the players and owners are extremely wealthy?

Who are the top teams in the NHL?Given the short season, I am expecting the team with the hot goaltender and a solid backup to compete. No room for error so a bad night or two can really set a team into the bottom of the standings. I'm expecting Vancouver to make the Conference Finals, along with...
