Now that a just published hub is put into pending status for the first 24 hours,

does it make sense to not submit it to other social sites/search engines till it comes into the featured status?
In case, it is submitted to these sites/search engines, does it get a negative ranking with google, leading it to be showing up much lower in the search results?

That is a great question! But I think as long as the URL address is accessible to a search it should be ranked as any other new landing page. I know it takes a few days to be picked up anyway, unless you use the exact address in the browser bar, but I don't see how submitting the links to search engines is affected by the 24 hour status of hubpages. I believe the 24 hour update is an internal working of hubpages, and is not related to how Google process the hub. Hope this helps Rajan, it just makes sense to me. Thanks!

Thanks for responding, Deborah. I get your point. My point is if it's status is pending, is it available to search by keywords and tags too? Of course it may be accessible by the URL or a link to it. I really don't see what purpose is being served by keeping the status pending..

Rajan, as far as I am aware, as long as a hub is in pending it is not visible to search engines at all. I had some hubs that took weeks to be indexed by Google, and when I checked for them with the url I found a note that said the site bots were blocking them. But when I emailed HubTeam it turned out that they were't doing anything to block them. I manually submitted them for indexing, but even after that it took a few days before they showed up in searches.
So to answer your second question: if a hub is in pending it does not come up in searches, not even when you enter its url.
I don't know the answer to your first question.
One other thing: editing a hub in pending makes it have another 24 hours in pending from when you edit. I also think it may have the effect of delaying the indexing process, (from what's happened with some of my hubs) but I don't know this for sure.

Melovy, it seems even though my latest hub is in pending it's been indexed by yahoo as I have received traffic from yahoo. What does this signify?
The entire picture is very hazy. I hope hupages clarifies this point  to relieve our tension.

I am not sure, but I always wait until it is active before I start posting links to it in other places... just in case
