What does Dots Per Inch mean in regards to an image on the computer?
I'm working on createspace.com to do a tester print for one of my stories, and I am stuck on the cover! I have gotten it to the size and everything that it says, but it keeps telling me it needs to be 300 dots per inch, and I have no idea what that means, and it won't "approve" my cover until it does and it's driving me insane!!!!
And what file did you feed it that it complained about 300 dpi? Usually only Photoshop have dpi settings.
How big is the image? (in terms of x by y pixels, not file size) How big is it supposed to be in terms of inches? Multiple the inches by 300 and you get the actual x by y in pixels.
it was meant to be 11.95x5.79", and the pixels are 862x431.
I don't have photoshop. I tried to find a download of it, but none I could find were free
Your cover then is nowhere NEAR 300 dpi.
You need to submit a picture that is... 1737 wide and 3585 tall. pixels of course.
DPI, Dots Per Inch, is a measurement for print medium. The screen equivalent is PPI, Pixels Per Inch. They are effectively the same thing, but one is a dot on your monitor (pixel, short for picture element) and the other is a dot that comes out of your printer.
Your 826x431 measurement is the size of your image in pixels, or dots. So if you try to print it at 300dpi your image will be approximately 2.75" x 1.43"
Try GIMP.
I've been attempting gimp but it's a slow learning process. Thanks for the info!

Been fixing my lens/hubs and this morning I worked on the story about my Dirty Family Secret.Everything looks okay (though I'm concerned how to deal with that duel module) except for one photo in the slideshow. On Squidoo, this photo looked just fine. Hub Pages blow it up huge as possible and of...

On this article, I uploaded an image of a table at over 1200 pixels wide. The site then seems to limit the width to 1200 pixels wide. In edit mode if I right click on the image and open it in a new tab, it's 1200 pixels wide. If I view the article on Owlcation and do the same thing, it's only 700...

So, is there an easy way to download all the pictures you uploaded to hubpages? I searched for a hub on this and checked out the image information section, but didn't find the answer. I know I can right-click and paste the images I've imported and I probably have all of these pictures...

Not only are all of my hubs published, but all of them are featured. When I tried to change hubs for spotlight list on my profile page, there was a hub not listed, yet it is listed on profile page with the rest of my hubs. I then counted the list of hubs from which we choose for...

Hi, was just wondering if anyone knows what is the minimum size for an image (in pixels) that you should use for your hub?I have contacted someone asking to use some of their images and he has asked me to let him know the approximate size I would like, in pixels, width x height. I've had a...
