What is your best fast cleaning tip?

I have a busy house with 5 kids and would love to know tips for cleaning faster and easier!

Do the finishing touches first. If you usually polish bathroom taps last, or plump cushions in the main roon, do that first. Work back from there. Don't panic, you have little people who can help.

What a great idea!  That way you can get what you like the most done and then if you can't  get everything done you'll at least feel better!

Hi Virginia! In the morning I use Listerine, and it's supposed to be in my mouth for 1 minute. Well, I hate the taste, so to distract myself while I'm swishing it around, I do the basic wiping down in the bathroom - sink, toilet, quick tub wipe. It's silly, but it works!

Love this heather!  A quick wipe every day would make that sink better.  Maybe I could use those times to put a few things away too!

Leave a spray bottle of already made up of white vinger and water or bicarbonate soda in a ice cream container. But remember to leave underneath the sink for emergencies. Just in case! smile

What do you use this for?  Is it helpful for smells?

Every morning while the kids eat breakfast I unload the dishwasher. Then throughout the day when dishes get dirty again, I (or the kids) can just stick them in the dishwasher. I run it every night before bed, whether or not it is completely full. But with 5 kids, your dishwasher is probably always overflowing, so not sure this will work for you!

ExpectGreatThings--I like this idea.  In fact, what is funny is that I actually did that this morning and it really helped me get that kitchen cleaned up faster.  Great tip!

I keep a plastic basket handy in the bedroom. Each morning, starting in the bedroom, I do a walk through of the house and collect all the clutter into to the basket. It makes it so much easier to transport items back to their appropriate places, and in about ten minutes the whole house looks a lot cleaner. Without the distraction of the clutter, I can focus on what actually needs to be cleaned more deeply, make a to-do list, and work on those tasks over the rest of the day.
