My wife makes bread now and then and it is amazing. It's really simple and you can find many different recipes online and I'm sure on hubpages. It's cheap and delicious. She makes dinner rolls that you can use for a bunch of different meals. I highly recommend it. She doesn't not have a bread maker and does everything from scratch. Hope you give it a try

      Hi ToJDawn,
I agree, it is "amazing" and simply to bake bread.  Once you start you cannot stop…  : )

I have baked bread at home.

There are many varieties of breads and for me baking a yeast risen bread was most exciting.

Baking bread with yeast can take four or five hours if you take into account the proving time ( where you let the dough rise to prove the yeast is working) But during the proving process you can do other things.

Baking bread also is very theraputic, if you have a stressful day, kneading bread dough takes a lot of aggression, the harder you work the dough the better the loaf of bread.

Baking bread also makes a delicious aroma in the kitchen. Your mouth will be watering as you bake in anticipation of the delicious product you have created.

Try baking bread at home. It is a very satisfying thing to do. With many new baking products even proving the yeast is now no longer neccessary.

Their are dozens of how to's and recipes online. Give it a try.

      Hi Bretsuki,
I love your answers--every point is right on, especially being "therapeutic."  I love baking for my family and friends.

I bake bread all the time. In fact, we only home made bread. We cook all our meals from scratch.
Bread made at home is more tasty, and has no artificial ingredients. It is much better for you.  I take one day, and make a few loaves, and freeze them. There is only two of us, so that lasts us quite awhile. I usually have to bake twice a month. I have done a few hubs about cooking from scratch.

      Hi cloverleaffarm,
I visited a friend this summer and they never once cooked in the microwave or opened a can of food, and everything was so good…along with the baked bread.  Continued success with your baking...

I make bread at home weekly. After we moved to Peru, I missed loaf-style bread like we often ate in the States. So I began making my own, usually whole grain. I purchased a bread machine which I use a lot because of time constraints, but I do love the artisanal act of making bread. Kneading and forming the bread relaxes me; the fragrance of rising and baking bread makes our home feel so cozy and welcoming. I also enjoy making yeasted, shaped breads like English muffins and bagels since we can't buy them here. Yum!

      Hello vespawoolf,
Years back I remember having a bread maker too…I was to young to enjoy the joy of baking bread at home.  Now I love it.
