I have never been on an Asian airline, but based off of what I know from U.S. airlines, I could imagine a number of things make them better.  There are no charges for bags or the fee is less.  Food is provided on every flight.  The food is better.  There is more leg room when seated.  I am sure I could go on, but they would just be more complaints about U.S. airlines.  I will have to get back to you when I go to Asia.

It is likely that a portion of their overhead is lower and the competition is keen on the international circuit where the flight hours are long and customers expect more. ~WB

I am not sure if Asian airlines are better than the western airlines.I just returned from the Philippines and Malaysia. Cebu pacific air sucks .flights are late.all meals are bought even if the flight is international, all kinds of surcharges like seat reservation fee,web administration fee? Shoot! Most flights now are bought on line and they charge web administration fee and even seat reservation fee? Seat reservation fee for what? Incredible. I will not be suprised if one day ,they will charge you for going to the toilet inside their planes.

My hearty condolences.  Nothing worse than days of misery to get home.

I think it's because of several culture differences, but since you didn't specify which Asians, I can't really go into detail on it. There is also a higher competition among the airlines.

I have flown on two major Asian airlines (sorry to avoid scamming, I will not tell you which) and have always thought that their customer service was a lot better.  It would seem they take more value in thier customers than some U.S. airlines.  There could be various reasons why, but I think it is probably a different view in cultures and customer hospitality.

On that same note, I will tell you this.  Some of the customer services I have gained from some European airlines was terrible.  In fact, I think the U.S. may have a leg up on some of these European airlines.  Sorry, I know this is a different topic, but thought I give some type of kudos to U.S. airlines.

Binkster, I agree with you on the cultural differences but other service issues like web administration fee and seat reservation fee is what i really cannot find any rhyme and reason with Cebu Pacific air.The other  airline don't  charge these.

Respect!  I have traveled with my elderly mother and the Asians respect elderly people. The Asian flight attendants believe service is an art.  Other fight attendants are bored and frequently do their jobs without enthusiasm.
