If a belief is a thought I keep thinking, if I believe it , will it come to pass?
In some tecahing I've read, it's been said that "A belief is a thought I keep thinking and when I believe it it comes." Do you think this is true?
It depends upon the nature of the thought. If I think I can achieve whatever I put my mind to then I will be focused on the goal and have a good chance to make it happen. If I think I will win the lottery, no matter how much I think or believe, I will not be able to improve my chances.
A thought or belief can only come to pass if we can directly influence the outcome through physical action. Belief in itself can achieve nothing.
Thanks for sharing. But you said above that ,"If I think I can achieve whatever I put my mind to then I will be focused on a goal and have a good chance to make it happen" so why not lottery winnings?
How can my beliefs affect the randomised actions of a lottery ball draw machine several hundred miles away from where I'm sitting?
How do your beliefs affect anything in your life? If you believe you should receive right?Like the runner that sees himself winning the race before he actually runs it...
But the runner can directly influence his performance by a combination of physical fitness, positive mental attitude, and self effort. Thus any belief we may have can be fulfilled so long as we can exert self effort to make it happen.
Yes that is true. So if you make the effort of buying the ticket and have a positive mental attitutde, see yourself holding the big fat winning check why not?

There is no afterlife, I believe that when we die that is it, and to be honest we are all in the same boat, so it doesn't bother me at all. The easter bunny would be a much more credible idea than a 'soul' floating up to an eternal world where everything is perfect forever. Is the thought that there...

Do you think that belief in something requires thinking it is real?If not, please explain how one would go about believing in something one does not think to be real if no clear physical evidence for it exists.

I'm currently in a university class on critical thinking, and it's forcing me to think about a lot of things from perspectives that I've never examined previously. I abandoned my faith in god over the process of many, many years, and there were many factors that played into my decision to...
