As Christians, what is required by God to be a part of the Rapture or catching away?
As a Christian, what do we need to be a part of the Rapture or catching up? Is it a church membership or perhaps having lived as a good person? What guarantees that we'll be a part of this?
What is required by Scripture and history alike, is that you were a Jew that converted to Christianity and recognized the "Abomination of Desolation" surrounding the Holy City by General Cestius Gallus in the year 66 A.D.
You would also have to have been familiar with the prophecy of Daniel speaking of the coming "Abomination of Desolation" and also familiar with the contemporary message of Luke 21:20-22, (20) "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. (21) Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. (22) For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written."
The next requirement was to obey the commands given in Scripture and flee to the mountains of Pella. There, you would be safe from the incredible destruction of Israel, Jerusalem, and Judea and the punishment that would befall the Jewish people, who turned their backs on the Almighty, killed His prophets, persecuted His saints, and crucified His only begotten Son.
After 3.5 years of incredible pain and punishment...Jerusalem fell to the Romans and the Temple was burned and destroyed in 70 A.D., without one block resting upon another (Matthew 24:2)
For all those whose faith rests upon spiritual escapism provided by the "rapture"...I am truly sorry. Although "The Great Tribulation" and "The Beast" have already come and gone, they left a remnance to persecute you, in order to keep you sharp. :0)
I pretty much agree with everything you are saying here CJ.
Hey...what a great way to start out the new year!!! Peace bro.
Thanks for the reply CJ Sledgehammer. I appreciate your thoughts although I have a different understanding of this. There are too many scriptures that dovetail together concerning a future event for me to share your view. No more room here to type.
CJ, when you are raptured can I have your Volvo and pet tarantula? I'm calling dibs early.
Tussin: You humor me. Yes...if Scripture, Yeshua, His disciples, and history have it wrong and Hal Lindsey has it right...you may have my Volvo and pet spider. In fact, why wait. I will say a prayer that you are overun with arachnids come spring. :0)
To Disappearinghead,
I am very sorry but I think I have accidentally deleted your post which I thought was very interesting. I'm new to this and I was trying to post a reply to you and decided to delete my answer and start over again when I realized that I had deleted your post instead...crazy! Thank you for your post and I would like it if you have it saved somewhere, to repost it. I am truly sorry about that.
David
That's ok. I was essentially saying that rapture theory is less than 200 years old and that I don't support it. Jesus said that in this life we will have tribulation so there is no escape.
There is a very simple answer. The answer is that we must be Christians. That is, to be a follower of Christ. Church membership has nothing to do with it. Neither is simply being a good person, there are good people who are not Christians.
Give your life to Christ, ask for forgiveness, repent of your sins and follow Him. That is it. there will be good times and hard times, but as long as you continue to follow Christ, you can do it.
Perhaps you should clarify that this question is directed to Rapture-believing Christians only. If you ask this question of a Christian who does not believe in any coming Rapture, the answer will be nothing.
Hey...........just a minute - I don't believe in a coming rapture and my answer was downright brilliant. :0)
Between you and me Robburt, I am beginning to think that accurate answers are not valued here as much as inaccurate ones that feel good.

Do you believe in a "Secret Rapture" and if so why?If true that "every eye shell see Him" (speaking of the return of Jesus) how can there be a "Secret Rapture"?

Why did Paul tell believers to wait diligently for the 'day of the Lord', (Second Coming of Christ).1 Thessalonians 5:2-10: If Paul believed a physical 'rapture' of the saints would occur seven years prior to the return of Christ, widely taught by scholars today, why did he tell them to diligently...
