@ CM: when teens are left to decide from their own wisdom they fail, most of the time, also due to improper mentoring at home, along with media and entertainment contributing confusing messages; which don't have their best interest.  That is just the tip of the iceberg (google: refusal skills) Have a good day.

Thank you for your comment, your points are well taken. The problem is deeper than that. A teens frontal lobe of a teens brain is not developed until well into his teens. The  frontal lobe is  decision making  part  of the brain.

Thats right the psychological aspect should not be downplayed.  Consequences of actions are not fully comprehended by teens.

Lack of life experience. They are too young to know the ways of the world.  Politicans really like to take advantage of this.

Thank you for your comment. Teens are still in there developmental stage, including there brains. There brains do not look like adult brains until they are in there twenties.

Hormones first, thoughts later. In the past we humans had short lives. Twenty-five years old was ancient. On an evolutionary scale, not much time has passed since then. Technology has advanced at a lightning fast pace while our bodies and minds have yet to catch up. (I suspect it will be quite a while.) Our bodies still prompt us to reproduce as soon as possible. This is the driving force behind our actions, though we often do not think of it this way.
