Is it still possible for regular hubbers to win Hub of the Day?

Since the apprentice program has gone full blown, it seems like only apprentices can win Hub of the Day. This does not give much for us regular hubbers to look forward to. Is it possible that HubPages will have two Hubs of the Day, one for apprentices and one for regular hubbers?

I've never won Hub of the Day with this account, but when I started a new niche account recently, it got Hub of the Day pretty quickly. And that account was NOT an apprentice account.

That was probably a special case, however: the niche was Lord of the Rings, Tolkien and the Hobbit. It appeared that Hub of the Day selected one of my hubs on the opening day of the Hobbit movie in order to cash in on the trending topic.

So maybe they sometimes pick Hub of the Day by hunting for hubs on specific trending topics or current holidays, and selecting a good one?

I don't know. It could also be that they tend to check out hubs by new hubbers (or accounts) more than old, established ones.

This is an interesting insight. I hope you got cash out of them cashing in on your trending topic/subject matter!

I think HOD's are based upon certain criteria and who is scanning the posts for the day. I believe there are guidelines for this on the Learning center.  I know your posts have great potential, Stephanie.

Thanks, teaches12345. After a year with accolades and submissions to contests but no wins, you get bummed out sometimes.

Well I've been on HP for two years but I only started writing hubs last month. I haven't done the apprenctice program and had one of my hubs featured just a few days ago, it was the one for the coconut milk soap recipe.

Cool. I really liked that article, as I dabble in soap making. Even though you did get a HOD, instances of non-apprenctices winning are a thing of rarity nowadays. But I'm glad it still happens.

    Hello Stephanie,
Going by your high performance on HubPages, that is you have a score of 93, an indication that you are a great writer and a hard worker, one would thank that, at some point, you will be selected as a Hub of the Day winner.
HubPages have this process going on presently where they are asking us to make suggestions to management on how HubPages can be improved.
I am thinking that this gives us a perfect opportunity to address questions like the one that you have presented.
Try that mechanism of making a suggestion and see what you get.
    Regards,
    Dr. Haddox

That's a great suggestion. I will try to use these new channels for suggestion for two separate Hub of the Days.
