   How much per hour would be a fair price to pay for a life coach who could successfully help you?

   I would start at $50.00 per hour but, once my personal advisor proves themselves then, I would raise their salary accordingly.

   Well-Being Coaching is $250.00 per hour for the good ones, and worth nothing for those who haven't a clue how to help you.

      I haven't heard of "Well-Being" Coaching--is that a niche in coaching or a company?  I agree--pay only for something that helps!

   0 - there is no such thing as a "life coach" who could successfully help you. Only you can help yourself and the first step toward that is not looking for a "life coach". Life doesn't offer shortcuts. It's an endless and ongoing lesson. Each and every individual have to try learning it the best way they can.
   
   A good second step would having more faith in one's abilities. You don't need a life coach - you just need to start acting and doing what you have to do to make things better for yourself.
   
   I guess the next step would be acknowledging the fact that you're not perfect, but you can better than what you are today by simply working on yourself. You can figure the next step after that. Follow your own path.
   
   Everything starts with step one.

      Appreciate your feedback. Its true only self can help self, but sometimes self needs an outside help to help bring clarity, provide support, and direction.  I've been amazed at how skilled coaches have brought clarity and momentum. But good words-TU!

   My first reaction was , what " life coach " stands for. ( Forgive, please my ignorance .) Could be my old-fashioned attitude ( comes with maturity? )
   Analyzing life's experience , mostly as needed depending on " own" inspirations -- listening/following that spirit,  small inner voice ( don't get scared of the word" spirit " ) , works like this: start doing and when what you do is you're best, works for you , you (me) share it, engaging in conversation giving/receiving more input, wisdom, education... You're smarter than me... All comments indicate how much is to learn...

      LIfe Coach--somebody who comes alongside another person and assists/supports them with a life goal.  It could be anything--health, career, relationship.  Wherever the person is "stuck" the coach acts as a guide/facilitator/support to help!

      Thanks, it wasn't my ignorance, rather unawareness of,unfamiliarity of the " cultural" usage of " Coach" - in my long time ago the only " coach" we're the people around you, and naturally, theVOICE one learns to follow - of God.

   Most coaches come with a fee for service and may offer a sliding scale.  I charge $25-$50 per hour on line and up to $75.-$95 per hour for personal consultations.
   
   It is important you find a coach with the appropriate training and experience.   Sadly it is an unrelgulated business where many people without training hang up a shingle and charge lots of money for poor quality services.

      Thanks for the feedback.  Since the business is unregulated, what do you think people go off of to choose a coach?  References?  Certifications?

      Certainly look for accreditation and extensive training.  References are also a good way to go. Beware of "free" coaching or services that are linked to a religious or other organization with a hidden agenda to recruit you.

    I would say 0, zip - today we turn to professional counselors and 'life coaches' for what once was provided by friends (real friends). I understand that there are some folks and some situations who can benefit from someone trained in breaking through the emotional barriers some can hide behind and trained in dismantling the emotional routines some can fall prey to, but it's become a cultural perversion of our time to look to 'professional' friends, family, and teachers in the form of life coaches and things of that sort . . . I turn to real friends and my family to tell me when to sit down and shut up and then set me straight, and I return again and again to men like John Newton (The Letters Of John Newton) and C.S.Lewis (The Screwtape Letters) and puritans and reformers, etc, as my teachers.

       You are indeed fortunate to have family and friends as resources to turn to.  Sadly many families I work with do not have people in their lives and so I help them create a circle of support and find people who can help them.

       Yes Lizam1, I don't suggest any fault or failure of the individual who turns to professionals for those things family & friends provide, but rather point to a cultural fault & failure, that we've come to a point that so many live without that

       A life coach is not a friend. A friend can listen to you, you're right, but a good life coach is not supposed to give you his opinion, judgment or advice.  A coach can stay neutral ad solution focus. A coach and a friend are not the same at all.

    I think this question can be answered depending on how much experience a life coach has and what kind of certification the life coach when through. The Best life coach schools need to go through the ICF ( International Coaching Federation).

    This an excellent forum to find a coach while they are doing their certification. Some coach wants clients to practice and will charge most of the time nothing or a really small fee.
    Like me, I'm done with my life coach program, but I still need practice and hours for the final certification. Because of my small experience, I charge almost nothing.
