Whatever happened to Virtual Reality as Entertainment for the future?
In the early 1990's it seemed that Virtual Reality would be in every home as a way to escape your regular life. Is the technology an epic failure or is some of it's features alive and well in Xbox Connect and other arcade machines?
NOIVA on PBS has been doing shows about virtual reality and robots in the home, mentioning the high cost still required as yet. I think some features of VR are offered around the marketplace, especailly VR goggles tor video gaming..
However, I just read last week about films to be released in 2013 that include aromas sprayed into the theater and snow falling from the ceiling. And REAL 3D is almost virtual reality in some flicks I have no titles as yet to give you on the aromas and snow, but will write about that as soon as I have the information.
I remember this....You all remember that movie from the 90's "Ghost in the Machine"? In one of the scenes the killer was in the virtual reality game with the teenage star of the movie. Back then I think the games were so expensive you had to go to the mall and "rent" one for a set amount of time to play. I never personally saw one with my own eyes. I think the cost put it out for the average consumer.
I do think it's coming back in a roundabout way....Kinect and Wii's are motion sensitive. We now have 3D televisions that are becoming quite common. We have touchscreen monitors, TV's fused with the internet and your phone line. The next step for entertainment would have to be more immersive to be any more interactive. I don't think it'll be here in good numbers in the next 10 years, but definitely in the next 20-30.
I think 4D, PS3 and the Xbox360, the I Pad, 3D TV and other inventions have satisfied the average person. Very good question my friend.

Why can I no longer indent each new paragraph in the text capsules? I noticed this a while back-I went to do some editing on an older hub and when I saved the capsule, the indent was gone. This drives me crazy! I prefer the look of indented paragraphs because I think it makes the text look neater...
