Is Roger Federer past his prime?

There is no doubt that Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players ever but with Murray, Nadal and Djokovic all winning grand slams in the last couple of years is Roger starting to slide?

Yes, I think he is declining a little.  He still has most of what he used to, but since the competition is so close, that little bit he lost, makes a big difference.

I think he's still a winner and on his day capable of beating anyone but players like Djokovic and Murray have stepped up their game to a higher level.

You're probably right.  I don't follow tennis so much, but I think that Nadal is the best in the world right now.

I totally agree, Murray, Djokovic and Nadal have all made up the difference and targeted any weaknesses Roger has (none that I know of). On his day there is no one capable of beating Federer and for a while he seemed invincible.

Yes, but Nadal does sort of have his number.

Yes, at the Open he didn’t show me that he has the edge that is needed to get back to the top. Novak is the man to be, the sad thing about Fed is, nobody should be beating him, his stroke are too smooth, but he lacks mental toughness! Period.

I really don't know much about this.

Roger Federer is 31 years old, and has a wife and children. I once read that it is very rare for any tennis player, male or female, to win a grand slam title once he/she has children, yet Federer has done this.
I believe that it is inevitable that at his age he is past his prime. Some of the best players had retired already at his age.

      You make a point.

His feet are not moving like before due to the age factor.  But his technique and class never fades.  I still believe one more Grand Slam is on the cards that may be this year's Wimbledon and hope he will break Pete Sampra's record of 7 Wimbledon titles.

I hope you are right, because he should lost to Nadal and it was bad!
