What are the benefits of listing your blog on blog directories
there are countless of blog directories available, but I want to know what is the benefit of listing your blog on such directories. does any one really read the articles posted there, does it really impact the traffic on your main blog, please help
People rarely read the articles there, except for the big ones. You get backlink credit from Google Search, however. Not as much as in the past, though.
thanks for replying, perhaps you are right that people rarely read the articles and this is what i have also noticed
It depends on the directory. Look into it, see what traffic it gets. Beyond that, it takes a few minutes to add your link to the directory. Watch your stats over a few months and see if you are getting traffic from the directory or not. If you get a few hits a month keep the listing. If you don't see much coming from it remove the listing. No real harm in giving it a try. But, make sure you actually have a findable listing before you link back to any directory.
thanks a lot, i have added my blog to various directories but i have never seen even a single visitor coming from them, perhaps i need to wait a few weeks more and then delete. thanks for ur response
You may get some traffic which is a rare chance unless it's reddit or stumbleupon. But yes, you will get backlink if they don't add rel="external nofollow" on the link.
I have found that google finds your pages faster if you socialmark it everywhere.
