Do you believe dogs howl when they see ghosts?
We have been having this argument with my sister on whether the popular belief that dogs howl at demons is true or false. While I somewhat think it is true she totally disagrees with this belief. Do you think dogs bark, growl or howl when they see ghosts at night?
To my knowledge, dogs howl for two main reasons: 1) when they hear sounds that are painful to their ears (fire engine sirens, etc.) or 2) when they are trying to echolocate other members of their pack.
No I don't. Our dogs howl if they hear wolves in the distance howling, or I have one lab that howls when my husband goes outside without him. He sits and howls this low mornful howl.
I think it is likely if you have a dog that barks or growls at things you cannot see, they are hearing or smelling something that you are not aware of.
I have never even heard of this concept, so it is a regional belief. In the United States, I don't know of anyone who believes or has even heard of this.
No, dogs howl as a means of communication. I like to train my dogs to howl on command. They like that game, too.

Can dogs see ghost or spirits? It was late at night (almost 11p.m.) and I'm still watching a tv show and all of the sudden the dog of our neighbor kept on barking and growling looking at their gate. I tried to look outside but I saw nothing nor heard that someone was there. The barking and growling...

It is my contention that the Christian religion (and specifically following Christ) is guaranteed to cause conflict, wars and ill will.As proof - I cite the last 1800 years - including the hubpages forums as evidence. Not only are these forums littered with arguments between atheists and believers,...
