Can I get your Ideas on piercings and tattoos?

I know that most have your opinions on what is acceptable in society, but I want to know what everyone believe as far as the long term affects piercing have on a person. What does is mean if someone pierces themself? Do people who constantly want more body art have a problem? I myself have 7 piercings. Please, this is a topic I can never grasp! :-)

Hi - well I have to admit, I don't like either. For me it is a permanent manifestation of what may be a temporary desire. Piercings and tattoos are permanent and times change, ideas change, passions changes - so it is risky to make those permanent changes to your body when in fact you may regret it later.

For me, my tastes have change so much over the years if i had gotten a tattoo years ago it could well be something I would now regret.

Let me ask you, respectfully; what makes a person want to pierce their body?  It is for looks or are there other considerations?  I am genuinely curious.  A hub maybe?? :-)

I have 4 piercings and I don't have a problem at all with piercings or tattoos. I think that with piercings and tattoos that it is their body and they have the right to do what they want to it should have nothing to do with what I believe.

Back about 12 years ago I worked with a guy that had his ears pierced he came to me and said that the boss had said "he could not wear his earrings while he was working". I said thats not right I can wear my earrings he should be able to wear his. So I went to the boss and told her just that. She said "your right he should be able to wear his also" and then told him he could put them back in. I believe we all have our own expressions and we should be able to express them how we wish as long as it doesn't hurt someone else..

Despite what many people think, a piercing us permanent - it will leave a scar if removed

I have tattoos and I love them, plan on getting more.  Piercings, not too many but I don't have a problem with people that do.

I find it funny that some people who wear tiny earrings on their ear lobes, probably since they were babies, who also wear bracelets, anklets, necklaces, etc, can say it's disgusting when someone has an eyebrow pierced.  And these same women dye their hair monthly.  Is that not an alteration?  It's permanent too.  A tattoo is in my opinion, art.  And being an artist, my right brain tells me that is beautiful.  Note, not everyone works with their right brain.

Any alteration to the body is a self expression of that person.  I think society held a standard, people like sheeple, followed that standard, organized their thinking as a whole mass mob media group and agreed, this was acceptable and that over there was not.  There are followers, there are leaders.  Neither should tell the other side what to do, that's my opinion.

People that want more body art, are just expressing their artistic and creative animal, that's all.  Just like that lady in the salon who does her highlights.  She may not be as creative.  But the little bit she has, comes out once a month. lol
