   What do the initials OK stand for?
   
   OK means alright. Then why it is called "OK". I have also heard that it has a full form"Okey-Dokey". What does it actually mean.

   It is the word okay.  You pronounce the word okay the same way as the letters OK.  OK is the original form of the word okay.  It started out as an abbreviation for the phrase, "oll korrekt"  a funny spelling of, "all correct".  Over time, it transformed into okay.  Okey-dokey is a silly, slang version of the word okay.  If you wish to use this word properly, you will stick with the plain okay, the abbreviated OK, or use another word phrase like all right.  OK is listed as the correct use in some places, while others favor the newer form, okay.
   
   As a side note the word alright is actually a misspelling of all right.

   OK is a short version of the word okay, which means all right, fine, etc.  It is also an abbreviation for the state of Oklahoma. These are the more common ones. There are other meanings of OK though. For example:
   
   (1) OK! is a British celebrity magazine.
   (2) OK (hotel) is a bar & music venue in the state of Washington, city of Seattle.
   (3) OK is a soft drink.
   (4) O.K. is a German pop group of the 1980s.
   (5) Ok is a group of languages spoken in New Guinea.

   It stands for Oklahoma or
   In the late 1830's it was a misspelling of all correct - originally "orl korrect".
   It was part of the abbreviation fad that started in 1838 in Boston when the newspaper began to use satire when referring to our first men (OFM). They also used NG, "no go," GT, "gone to Texas," and SP, "small potatoes."
   
   Many of the abbreviated expressions were exaggerated misspellings like OW, "oll wright," and there was also KY, "know yuse," KG, "know go," and NS, "nuff said." OK was "orl Korrect" and was one of the few that actually withstood the test of time... It is kinda of like text messaging today...with the LOL, LMFAO, BRB, and L8trz...
