What is your favorite word in order to start a sentence?

"Imagine" is one of my favorite words in order to start a sentence.  Do you have a favorite word?  If so, what is it?

'When'  is one of the favorite words I use to begin a sentence.

      Arun Kanti,
Thank you for answering my question.  "When" is certainly a good place to start.

I don't know if it is a favorite exactly, but "seriously?" is the way I seem to start most sentences these days!

Thanks for responding.  In this day and time with so many pushing the envelope, "Seriously?" seems very appropriate.

I can't say I've ever thought about it. I would imagine it would be either "Dude".... or something unprintable.

Thanks for responding.  You make me think that you must be a young person.  I had a student who used "Dude" a lot.  Just for fun, I would challenge him to include "Dudettes" as well.  Smiles.

I'm not as young as you think... I'm just a relic of the 80s, from whence "Dude" came. Dude.

I did not realize "Dude" came into use in the 80s. Cool.

I have a bad habit of beginning a lot of sentences with "Actually..."  Not sure why.

And if I plan to explain something, I usually start with, "Bear with me for a moment, we are going into left field..." meaning I am going to explain something by starting with something that may not immediately seem relevant but if they stick with me we will come back around and the whole thing will make sense.

Thanks for responding.  I think writers like to take their audiences on a journey.  "Bear with me..." seems like a good place to start.

I can't give a direct answer to this question as it is a bit confusing. I usually start sentences with words such as "Please", "Actually", "As you know", "I think..." etc. It depends upon the circumstance. But the word I use quiet often is "I think...". But I don't think that they are my favourite words.

Thanks for answering my question.  I agree that the circumstances dictate how we start a sentence.  I suppose when I asked the question I was thinking in terms of creative writing.

I actually start most of my sentences with the character's name. "John went to the store. John saw Sally at the store. Sally said hello." It's incredibly distracting when it happens over and over again. A lot of my editing is just cutting out repetition.

Great response.  Who is a good place to start.  And from my experience with editing, repetition is always on the cutting board, unless of course, one is using the repetition intentionally.  RE:  "I have a dream..."
