Is a summary a long term benefit for search engines?
Is adding a summary to a hub just beneficial internally on HubPages or does it help with google? Some of my hubs have them and some do not since I'm not sure if it is beneficial.
Hi healthylife2. It does help adding a summary. Here is what I do: I research keywords associated with my hub. I tried to find as many high scoring keywords as possible and make sure I add as many as possible to my summary. It really makes a different to search engine traffic. Also consider
adding links to Google Plus - that really works.
Your summary is actually coded into the hub as its "meta description" and yes - it's very important.
The meta description is what is displayed under the title in search results and also on other sites such as Facebook and Pinterest when someone posts a link to your hub.
It does help to use your main keyword phrases when writing it, but it's also extremely important to make sure it entices real people to click through to your hub.

Is it important to have good keywords in the summary of the hub? Should the initial article on the hub have most of the keywords? Thank you. I am new.
