   What do you do with Family photos' when your parents or friends pass on?
   
   I am making a scrap book with the photo's of my friend that we shared trips with but I know she had boxes full of photo's, I have no idea what her son will do with them. Also my parents have phot'o's of their lives. They made scrapbooks of all our idividual pictures as kids and gave those alblums to us but what a shame their fun pictures with their friends get lost in the process of what to do with things.

   I scanned mine and gave copies to any interested family member takes up no room and you get to look at them whenever you want in a large format on your TV

   i have photos of my granny. Kept them in a photo album , locked in the cupboard, never took it out. Chinese families do not like to see passed on family photos. Remind of the funeral times instead of good memories.

      It has been six months since my friend passed over and now I am starting to remember the good times instead of the illness times. I understand what you mean peachpurple. Thank you for answering this question.

   Your question reminds me that I have a big dilemma on my hands. My late father was a photographer, and I have taken it upon myself to keep his collection of photographs and sort them out. But there are literally thousands of photographs, and I really don't know what to do with them all!
   Many of them are truly works of art, and I have decided to scan the best to include in an on-line exhibition to share with friends and family.
   The family photos are precious, and will always be kept in the family, as we have pictures going back over 100 years which are an important part of our history.
   But there are many others, and I can't bear the thought of throwing them out, so I guess they will get boxed up and stored until we decide what to do with them.

      You do have a big job Imogen French but as I sift through the pictures I find myself smiling at the blessings I  had knowing my friends and sharing time with them. The collection of your father;s professional portfolio would be overwhelming to me.

   I'll tell you what NOT to do.  Let them go.  I find family photos at antique stores all the time and just marvel at them.  Some are 150 years old.  These photos often speak to me.  Not in the "i forgot to take my medicine" terms but in the volumes about life and history.  It saddens me that they are not with their families.  So when the Estate Sale hits, keep the photos!

   What is truly sad is we purchased picture frames at the Good Will before that still had pictures in these.  Some people clean out their parents house, and do not even save the photos.  How can people do this to their own parents, it makes me think they are a bit selfish.

      I don't know if they are selfish or they are just too overwhelmed to look at the pictures after the family member is gone. The sadness is too much for them to look at pictures of their loved ones. Thanks a lot for answering Sweetie Pie.
