Is this a legit site??
I have heard of people saying they make money from this site, but after 1 year on here, and 20 articles later, I still have not seen any forum of progress. This makes me not want to write, with the notion of embarrassment for even trying. Has anyone ever got paid from this site?
If you are signed up to adsense and getting enough readers you will make money - not huge amounts but a nice residual income.
I have eleven hubs at the moment and I have realised a lot of it is improving the overall quality of your sub-domain as well as making shareable content - the couple of hubs which have recieved social shares have got a lot more views and seen me see noticable rises in income.
I haven't made payout yet but my views have tripled in the last month and if that carries on I will make payout easily by the end of this year and with a backlog of good hubs it will become easier year on year to make more.
I will hopefully (knock on wood) make a payout for the first time within the next couple of months, after being here for nearly three years.
That probably sounds like a waste of three perfectly good years, but in all honesty...for the first year and a half or so that I was writing here, I didn't have a clue what the @#$% I was doing when it came to attracting reader traffic. I simply wrote a ton of stuff, threw it at the wall, and hoped something might stick...haha.
I'm certainly not saying I have it all figured out now, but I have more of a clue than I did when I first started and the small amount of progress I've made has inspired me to keep at it.
It is possible to make money on this website, but don't expect it to be anything significant or quick. In a little over four years I've gotten approximately four payouts from Google (their threshold is $100) and about the same amount of payouts from Amazon (their threshold is $10). Considering I've written over 150 hubs in 4 years, that is kind of pitiful.
To be truly prolific on here, you have to be a self-advertising guru who can nail hot button topics before they come out and spread their links through the internet like seeds on the wind. Most of us, however, don't have that kind of time or motivation. So, my suggestion is to just write about subjects you care about and hope one of them gets attention. If you enjoy writing, then it should still be worth it.
20 hubs isn't not good enough. Try making at least 50 high quality hubs with evergreen topics. I managed to make 50+ hubs after a year and is steadily receiving payout every month . Don't lose hope. Good luck and have a great day!
After I read all these comments, I don't know if it is worth to keep on writing in here. I am a beginner and I really enjoy writing on Hub Pages . Anyway good luck to everyone
I decided a long time ago to treat HP as a hobby, not a revenue source. It's less stressful that way. I write when I feel like writing and if and when I make payout, it's gravy. I don't have the time or know how to build it up into anything bigger.
Speaking in regards to the HubPages advertising program, yes, I've been paid out several times throughout the year. Regarding Adsense, because I have different aggregated sites, it's hard to tell if HubPages combined with Adsense is making me more money. However, by looking at my Adsense stats, I do get a fair amount of traffic via HubPages, so it makes a small difference. Small, but better than nothing at all. Next, regarding Amazon and Ebay...I've never received any payments from them. Perhaps nobody is even clicking on the links in my hubs that do have products in them.
Honestly, treat this as a hobby and a form of expression. That way, you're not putting pressure on yourself to see how your pay is looking. Look at it as a way to kill some time and be creative in the process.

I haven't had a single click in nearly three weeks, and nothing from amazon either. Some of my pages are on the front page of Yahoo, and the second page of Google, but nobody's clickin! Do I need to set up a big neon green arrow on my pages that says "Click Here!!", or what?

Why do you write hubs? Money, fame, enjoy writing, personal cleansing?Writing hubs is a fantastic way for me to unwind after work, and at the same time have a third-party attributed value assigned to that writing, which lets me also fulfill some competitive aspect of my personality. Why do other...

I write 5 hubs a day. 2 of them are quality hubs that I enjoy writing and put my most effort to, the rest are there to share some kind of information I think is interesting. But these are not as good and I actually struggle to write them. So how many of your hubs are you satisfied with?

What are your HubPages goals for the next year? Income, number of hubs published, writing goals?
