      He's not some great evil mastermind, but he's the money behind the movement, that's for sure.  Given the fact that his buddies wouldn't have a pot to...well you know unless he gave them money sort of makes him something of a Dr. Evil level mastermind.

   We come from slightly different directions probably. While I do appreciate the deeds or rather misdeeds composing this developing crush, i see them as a manifestation of a natural law. In other words, if not Mr. Soros, there would have been somebody else with the similar role, or several people would have picked it up - to let the nature take its course

      I don't get Soros.  Reading his Wikipedia page, I should like the guy.  It sounds like he understands the danger of credit expansion and indeed has made his fortune exploiting the follies of credit expansion.  He seems to want a genuinely free people, after all he's backed the Rose Revolution among other liberty oriented goals.  He even understands that mismanagement and corruption is what has kept Africa a basket case since the end of colonialism.
      
      I can't understand why he'd support ACORN or SEIU, unless perhaps he saw Bush as a new incarnation of Hitler and that's what started him on his path to attempting to remove him from the Presidency.  Or it could be that he's become so wealthy and has been right so many times, that he thinks he can make a thing so by just wishing it.  Power does corrupt after all, and he does have a lot of power.  He may wind up best serving as an example of the fate that awaits all of us should we become riddled with hubris.

   IDK LDT, I can't read people minds. He may have some ideas that may or may not be grounded in reality. Helping to convert former socialist countries into more Western oriented without blood was great, but I am not too sure that Western culture is not some kind of dead end in humanity development either...

      I rather think of it as a continuum between liberty and autocracy.  Those nations which adopt more liberty oriented policies tend to do better whereas those who adopt more autocratic policies tend to be worse off.  You can see this especially in South America of all places.  Between the Peronistas and the military juntas, Castro and Pinochet, you can see the effects of communist controlled economies and fascist controlled economies.  The common denominator between the two of them is that neither one lasts.  The only time South America hasn't been an economic basket case is when the adopt free market principles.  Look at Brazil, for example.  They're doing almost as well as India and China.

      You can't look at it in isolation.  By opening markets, the Politburo of China singed the death warrant of the Party.  The only real question is how long it will take to die.  I wonder if Gorbachev knew he'd signed the death warrant of the Communist Party when he began his policy of glasnost?

         Yeah, I though so too. Yet now I am not so sure. I don't see why educated monarch can't support free markets in his country.

            Night Misha.  An educated monarch can support free markets.  Queen Victoria did just that.  The problem is that if you allow a monarch to give you a free market, they can always take it away.

   Seems to me the problems arise when a sense of no God, no ethical morality concerning how you treat others creates harm of people.
