   After being fired last week, what do I do today? Already filed unemployment, now what?

   You get your butt out there and find a new job....OR....write your heart out and build your readership...OR...win the lottery.  The point is to exhaust all options until you pay all necessary bills.  Then do it again for the next month, and the next month, and the next month until you're back on your feet.  I know you can do it!

   What do you really want to do, job-wise or otherwise, that you couldn't do because you were in that job? When I left my last outside job, I picked up odd jobs to keep the bills paid (i.e. yard work, housecleaning, etc.), but then completely threw myself into writing and finding freelance clients. That's what I'd wanted to do, but I was too busy stocking shelves at Wal-Mart to take that time. It was in 2007, and today I'm a full-time writer, make jewelry on the side to sell on Etsy and at trade shows, and I'm still supporting my family of five with just my income. You have an amazing opportunity right now if you know which direction you want to go.

   You see it as a blessing in disguise. It is a sign that there is something better for you available right now. Keep your eyes open. Start affirming every day that you have a better job. Look for a definite lead for your next move. It is always there if you are alert. Always see your next move as a move "up" in income and opportunity. Let go of the past, don't look back or worry!  Lots of people get fired and get something better. If this would not have happened, you would still be asleep to the better situation that is about to happen to you.

   Enjoy your time off, be picky about your new job, no rush. Do let Job Service help, they offer classes, have job leads, they are a good resource.

   Go out and look for work.
   Write speculative letters employers to see if they are looking for employees.
   Search Internet job sites.
   Write as many articles as you can and spend time commenting and answering questions. Getting your readership up will give you a little income if you do it right.

   You update your resume and go out each and every day and view looking for a job as your job. Get up, get prepared and go out and do it.

   It all depends upon the reason you were fired.  If you were laid off or downsized, then future employers will not view your being fired negatively.  However, If you were fired from your job for cause meaning that it was your fault, then being fired is viewed negatively by future employers.
   
   Most future employers desire employees with a spotless work history and/or record.  Being fired from a job is a blight on your future employment.  You are seen as damaged goods by many employers.  There is unfortunately still a stigma attached to being fired from a job.  Many times, employees who are fired from their jobs oftentimes end up in worse jobs because of the negative reputation of being fired.
   
   Yes, people DO obtain employment after being fired but it is a long, uphill battle.  You will have to prove yourself over all again.  Also, you will be under constant supervision because you were fired from your last job.  In essence, being fired will be a negative albatross which will follow you.  You will have to work extremely hard to overcome the negative stigma of being fired.
