   Any thoughts on the word 'addictive'?
   
   You can have small obsessions like troubling your siblings or major obsessions like drugs. But do all these  require the same strength to overcome.

   I believe the answer to your question depends upon what a person is considered "addicted" to. For example, some might say a person is addicted to video games which can be fixed by getting the person a new hobby and removing video games from their lives which will have little to no negative affects on their lives. You then have people who are addicted to drugs and fixing that addiction isn't so easily. A person may die from such an addiction so more work is put into helping people with "life-threatening addictions."

   Yes, they do. It is the inner indomitable will that is important. An addiction is something that we have pursued for a while, to the extent that we now perceive this very thing to be having an unwanted or negative effect on our lives and indeed perhaps the lives of others.
   
   It is addictive in the sense that we recognise that it is unwholesome and would like to be rid of it. Yet part of the addiction lies in the fact that there is a conscious, or unconscious attachment to the thing concerned. Addictions fulfill a desire which brings pleasure, like a valium or heroin, but is ultimately followed by suffering or pain.
   
   One - as I said - requires an indomitable will, and perhaps an exhaustion of Karma also, before one can move on. I neither drink nor smoke nor take any drugs, but I can empathise as I have my own addiction. I do as much as I can and seem to travail until I stumble again, and as such I rely on God, time and Grace.
   
   My view is that at times things are meant to be transcended quickly, while at other times one has to pray hard, while making tremendous effort and at the same time relying on God's grace. The karma may have to be spent or burnt out. One still needs to go through the motions of seeking a cure, while remembering that nothing happens without the grace of God.

   Addiction is two fold, and why it is so hard to overcome. Sometimes addiction is your body screaming for something it is not getting. Examples?
   Food addictions, are two fold not enough attention, understanding or love. You turn to comfort food. Addicted to salty snacks? Probably a lack of Magnesium in the diet.
   Addicted to sugar? you are looking for a pick me up, for a lack of energy. Probably a B vitamin deficiency, the stress, and energy vitamin.
   Addicted to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes? Most all boost dopamine levels in the brain. The everything is fine brain chemical. By supplementing with the right vitamin, or food you wont crave it. To produce dopamine your body requires essential fatty acids, it is either lacking in the diet, or you have a glitch, whereby you aren't able to utilize the fatty acids required for Dopa mine, the b vitamins are also required for re-uptake of all brain chemicals. Serotonin, dopamine, ect. By being addicted to these substances we deplete our bodies of nutrients, don't eat, and thereby just add to the problem, which makes the addiction have a stronger foothold.
   My thoughts are not so much will power, but more change the circumstance.
