How important is exchanging social media information with dates?
How soon would you send a friend request to somebody who you wanted to date and what does it mean when you have gone on a couple of dates and the other person has no interest in sharing information?
0I think I'd send them a friend request right away. You can learn a lot about someone by what they share on FB and other places. If the person doesn't want to share, I'd be thinking they don't want me to see what they say at the social networks because I might decide I don't like them because of what they post.
Thank you for your answer. That was what I was afraid of, that he was hiding something from me
I wouldn't send one right away, I mean you barely even know each other.....Many people have there kids and personal things on their socia media outlets, in my opinion, So until I was very comfortable with them and decided to allow them into my "circle".......and that may take a little time.
I can understand that but it is also it is a great way to check them out and see what they post and get a general idea of who they might be.
I'm still fairly old school when it comes to dating. If I were single I would not be in a rush to exchange social media information with anyone I've had a few dates with. Everyone I'm connected with is either a family member or someone I've known for many years. The reality is most people you date are simply "passing through" your life and most relationships eventually fail.
It's not uncommon to hear of exes posting negative stuff on each other's wall in Facebook or using it to stalk or track what is going on in their exes life. Giving out social media information while you're still in the "infatuation phase" is way too early anyway you slice it. You've yet to see each other's "authentic selves".
I also most likely would never use social media as way meet potential singles. I'd rather pay a quality online dating site or attend Meetup.com groups to meet people who share similar interest. I'm too old to be hitting the nightclub scene every weekend! :-)
I see your point and thank you for your honest answer, I guess its just weird because its such a common thing to do and many use it as a way to scope the person out before going on the date.
It's okay to me as long as he don't stalk me. Maybe I'll share him one website first (facebook or twitter) so I am able to get to know him better. ![]()
Yeah I usually like to get to know a person before agreeing on a date. So I like to look at what kind of things he generally posts and get a idea for who he is.

You all might be shocked by reading the title – Disadvantages of Social Media...where whole world is enjoying the benefits of social media, its disadvantages are really shocking. But this is seriously an emerging issue. We all are using it to the max without thinking about its negative results....

This is a tricky one for me. I am a firm Capitalist. I believe in private companies' rights. But, like our nationally regulated gas, power, and light utilities, has the internet and social media platforms reached utility status?I think it can be reasonably argued that internet access has become as...

Honestly, I’ve been thinking a lot about politics lately, and I’m starting to believe that maybe we’re not more divided in 2025, maybe we’re just more awake. It feels like people are finally questioning the news instead of just trusting whatever pops up on their feed or TV. I see way more people...

In light of the recent Twitter/facebook NY Post censorship controversy, and as a nod to Savvydating's thought about the current power of Social Media, (read; facebook, Twitter, Google), I have some thoughts about the power of our predominate social media networks..But first, these thoughts aren't...
