   Because we have the beauty and wonder of being complex beings with amazing minds and myriads of different experiences.  Feeling a mix isn't necessarily a bad think.  Taking my son to Kindergarten the first day for example.  I was so proud of him and happy for him to reach that milestone, but at the same time, my heart was aching because I missed my "baby" and had to let others be the ones to care for him during the day.
   
   The same "baby" is now in high school and in a few years will leave to go to college.  He's worked very hard academically and I couldn't be more proud and ecstatic for him and his accomplishments, but the day he leaves I know I will be heartbroken too, because I have to let him go again. 
   
   I wouldn't trade either of the feelings for the world.  They both add a depth and richness to life.  Could we really truly experience and appreciate joy without sorrow?  They are opposites, but they are both necessary parts of experience .  As for grief, the deepest of all sorrows, it is painful but also healing when we move through it instead of pushing it away.  I guess I've seen enough tragedies in life that I've come to appreciate that sorrow and joy are both intertwined in many ways. I can reminisce now about those I've lost and feel both - although over time it's more happy than sad thankfully.

   They come as a natural process of Cosmic Law. Without the valleys you will have no mountains; without the shadow there will be no perception of light. We measure evil by the good that is in this word, and the same with darkness according to the measure to which we know Light. Winters follow Summers and love may precede hate and vice versa.
   
   The Law of Duality is part and parcel of the plan. Some call this Maya or illusion and it will all disappear one day. However, the Universe is God's Body and part and parcel of the process. Ultimately, everything is real - in so far as they have their part to play - nothing comes from an empty void. It is all the Mother's Will.
   
   Why the experience? The Soul is always perfect, but the other members of the human psyche aren't. The Soul involutes and comes into birth for experience, and in its process of evolution it encounters experiences necessary to find it's way home. Hari Om Tat Sat!!

   I believe that joy and sorrow are so much as the same that these two are almost confused.  I liken sorrow unto a rainy day without a sun and seemingly unending.  Joy is much the same but out comes the rainbow and now there is yet sorrow but hope.

   sometimes u get something that make u happy and u feel the joy but at the exact moment u may remember someone who would love this and u wish he/she was there and u feel that sorrow feeling, or just simply sometimes u take a moment and realize that things may not be that perfect again so u get the mixed feeling of joy and enjoying the moment and sorrow in knowing that u may not enjoy this again..
