   Have You Reached Your Limit With Facebook and Quit?
   
   I have noticed that some people wear their quitting Facebook as a badge of honor.  How do you feel about Facebook?  If you have quit, why did you quit and how are you keeping in touch with friends?

   I'm am thinking of unfollowing 90% of my "friends" so you don't see their innane nonsense but don't have to unfriend them. Then I still get to keep a news feed with posts from interesting things I follow, groups I'm in and see the updates of the few I'm actually interested in.

      Meg,  It is easy to limit what you see from "friends" by changing it the updates you get from them to Only Important.  That removes most of the pointless banter.  I agree that Facebook is useful for following things that I like to get updates.

   Nope, I am half of the 5000 friends limit. I am very choosy of adding friends now, I only confirm people which I find interesting, and those people whom I have met and known already.

      Thanks Ken.  I meant "limit" in the sense that one is tired of Facebook and quits it altogether.

   No, I'm still on FB, but I limit it to my cousins and a few of their friends with whom I have something in common, along with a few real friends of mine. I don't honor every "Friend Request" that I get, and I have unfriended a couple of people who only want to send radical negative political rants. We have a genealogy page maintained by one cousin, and we all contribute photos and family comments. That's my favorite part.
   There are two things that I'm getting tired of though. It seems that certain people have nothing better to do than search the web for "funny" cartoons and philosophies and post them, which I don't have time to read even if I wanted to; the other thing is the commercialism. I can't order a pair of shoes or a blouse online without the company's ad appearing on my FB page and requesting that I "like" them. I know better than to do something stupid like that.

   I basically gave up on Facebook. It's there for casual gaming and that's about it. Sick of seeing ads for useless drivel and getting bombarded by people I don't know that want to be "friends"

      The ads thing is starting to wear on me when using Facebook.  The second post now is always an ad for something I just searched for online.  I take care of the "friends" banter by limiting updates from people that annoy me.

   I am still on FB but now have friends I have never known. It is upsetting that some friends have crises they post. Reading these type posts is not very relaxing. It has lost some of the fun. Then there are the pranks that announce someone's death, usually someone famous, that is not true. I like the true friendships and connections with those far away and renewed friendships with high school and college friends. I waste time on FB, and I need to limit my time on the site.
