How do you publish a book for poetry?

I love to write poetry but I have never wrote a book. I don't know if it have what it takes to sell my book. I don't even have enough to write a book. I would love to see how to even began writing a book.

It's pretty easy to self-publish just about anything. I use CreateSpace to publish my books and 'zines, and they go right up on Amazon as soon as they're finished. CreateSpace takes care of all the printing and shipping, and pays me a royalty each time a copy is sold.

I use Publisher to set up my books, because I combine text and artwork. If you're doing text only, you can set it up in Word, and it's also much easier to convert your book to something that's Kindle ready.

Would it be better to include photos?

Lisa gave a very good answer. I'll answer the part about the photos. As Lisa said it's up to you. One thing to think about is that having them printed in color will increase the printing costs so you either get less in the form of royalty or have to charge more for your book. Black and white photos don't incur the additional costs. You can place a colored photo in the file and use one of the tools so it comes out as black and white.

A good place to start is to pick up some existing books of poetry. It will give you an idea of what a book of poetry looks like and some authors who made it big. Once you compose the book, you can then decide if you want to seek out an agent (many agents represent poets) or if you want to self publish.
