Material possessions or simples things more important?
Why do so many people still believe in material possessions to keep them happy instead of the simple things in life?
Some people believe that their belongings are part of their memories, and can't part from them. Or they are afraid to loose the memory. Like there Grandmas blankets or Jewelry box.
You are very right. The material items that hold memories are good to hold on to.
What are the simple things in life? They can be quite straightforward as in your photo, or quite abstract such as love, internal beauty, the spirit of sacrifice ....
God looks at our hearts. The great sage Rajasi Janakananda was a successful businessman, and yet every day he was absorbed in God. Actions by themselves have no power. What matters in action is a live, vibrant awareness of the power of God.
" To work we are entitled, but not to the fruits thereof." Said a great Soul once. Duty with detachment is the key. Point here is that attachment is the problem, being slaves to things. If we can offer them up to the Lord in the spirit of selflessness, remembering that all belongs to Him, then where is the problem?
Simple things; material things are all tools we use. It is infinitely more important to get out hearts right with Him then see what follows. Peace.
Thank you for your insight on my question. Many people get caught up on the newest fashion or accessories and forget to stop, slow down, and smell the roses.

Is it more important to study the Bible or to live a Christlike life?I am asking this because I see a huge amount of debate about doctrine, evolution, stem cells, premarital sex and so on, out there in US society, yet I feel convinced that, if Jesus lived today, he would not be engaging in these...
