Why do men hate feminism?
They get so angry/defensive! I am not a feminist but they do have a lot of great points (and not so great points!)
Because Feminism is not an academic understanding of social issue and make changes to it, it is merely rebel. For example, the reason the traditional gender role disadvantage women, with ideal such as "women should stay at home and take care of the children." is the result in during ancient tribe society, most job involving leaving the tribe, require better physical strength and been strong frequently is important in defending the tribe, during those era, where there are no professional trained warriors. Therefore, such roles was given to man, where women are given lighter job, as a result people start teaching their children "A man's job is to go out into the world to be the bread winner and defender, where the woman is to stay at home and take care of the children." then when the world start to change, the value associate with it, didn't change. But feminism don't understand this, instead they refer to it as a situation where men are suppressing women. It should be important to note for example, when women was first allow to go to university, there were in fact more women (including mothers) against women (including their daughters) going to university, most supporters were man, whom want to see a brighter future for their daughters. Also for example, during WW1, when Germany ran out of adult man, boys as young as 14 was send to fight on the front line, rather then adult women, whom are physically and mentally stronger, then little boys. (What type of people send children to go fight in one of the deadliest war in history, while the adult stay home at chill?) So, of course a lot of man are going to be offended by feminist.
Masculism is a dirty word just as much as feminism. I say be proud of what you are (male, female, etc). If that bugs others: meh. So long as your not encroaching on any of their rights.
I don't believe most men hate the idea of equal pay for equal work, birth control choices, or women having equal rights in all things.
What turns off some men are the (few) "vocal" feminist who seem to (blame all men for everything that is wrong in their lives). It's almost as if they are "man haters". Others want to somehow (force) men to change their individual idea of what constitutes beauty.
There was one so called feminist who stated all men are "rapist". Unfortunately for the feminist movement the media tends to shine the light on their most outspoken and outlandish representatives.
Lastly some feminist aren't content with women who prefer not to align themselves with some of their agenda. The term "gender traitor" has been bantered around. True equality would allow all women the freedom to live their lives as individuals. A career woman is no better than one who (chooses) to be a stay at home wife or mother. And yet many of them feel belittled by feminists for their choice.

Why do so many confuse Feminism with Misandry?Misandry is the hatred of men, feeling that men are beneath women. Feminism is not that. Although some radical feminists may feel that way, the definition of a feminist is "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political,...

Why does being a feminist have a negative connotation? One of the methods of keeping a certain social set under submission is to discredit them. Isn't this evident in the association by many people, especially men, of negative characteristics with the term feminist and the role of the feminist in...
