I hope I'm moving in the right direction with my Amazon hubs. But I would appreciate your opinions if you don't mind looking.
Thanks

Wish I can help you on this Appletree but I'm no expert in Amazon hubs (er you might want to remove the link, I don't think that's allowed). Maybe Nelle Hoxie or Mark or the other more experienced hubbers can help you. I'm bumping this post so that some of them can read this. So *bump*.
I grew up in the scout program, my father was District executive of our local council...reading through your hub def brought back lots of memories.
in my opinion the best dutch cooking recipe ever is pineapple upside downcake, its easily made and is quite an amazing different treat to have while outdoors. I used to use as part of the cooking merit badge lessons.
The hub is quite in depth and well done, not overboard on products (as in it doesnt look like sales is your main goal, yet their are def plenty of opportunities should they get the urge)
some small typos
on quesadilla (under one of the pics)
2 - ponds cubed beef (recipe)
thanks sunforged, great to hear about your scouting association. I enjoyed scouting as much as my son. my wife always joked I was the one that wanted to go camping more than my son (LOL)
I've had that pineapple cake in cake, it is a delicious treat.
fixing the typos and links, thanks for the input.
Wow, that hub is basically the cream of the crop when it comes to skillets and cookware!

I'm no expert, either, and I think your hub is great in terms of information provided, but it's too long. You may loose people's interest before they get to the bottom. Maybe you could try and break it up into 2 hubs?
Lily Rose, some of the flagship Hubs are that long - I think it's probably OK. The length means there's lots of content and lots of images so it should find favour with Google!
I personally don't put links to external sites in the body of my Hubs - why do you want someone to exit your Hub by clicking on a link? They probably won't come back and click on your ads.
Links to external sites help your page rank, but I follow Darkside's advice and put them all in a links capsule at the very bottom of the Hub, below the comments (where Google will still see them but real people probably won't).
Marisa, I guess you're right about that. It is a very thorough article, but I personally couldn't get through it all because it was so long but I guess that's just me.
Are you referring to links in MY hubs, or Appletreedeals's?
I belive I may have one or two hubs that have links in the body to external sites, but the sites are mine (with the exception of my shop for cool stuff hub) and the links open in a new window, so I can only hope that if someone clicks the link, they'll look & read, then close that window and come back.
Silly thinking, maybe - but I don't make a habit of doing that; I usually do as you said, put all the links in a link capsule at the bottom.
I was talking about Appletree's Hub! I do think it's naive to expect people to close the new window and go back to your Hub, as internet browsers are so easily distracted. But if you're linking to your own sites then you may be quite happy for them to stay distracted!
Sometimes it makes sense to put the external links near the text there about to make the Hub easy to use and to prove to the viewer that it did help. This might score you a return reader/fan/someone who will share it with others. Word of mouth is still 99X quicker then any means of self promotion in the world.
All the links I put to external sources open in a new tab or window, which means no one ever navigates away anyway unless they take the time to shut it.

thanks for the good advice Marissa, I agree completely, hated putting them there, was just following advice
thanks for taking the time and offering input.
You really think most people don't click a link for the extra info or the example mentioned, then go back to finish? I know I do go back, almost always. If I didn't enjoy what I was reading, that's when I don't even click the link.
I wanted to write a hub or post about how I surf the net but from what I read others writing, my ways are not the norm - so I guess it wouldn't really help anyone. Still would like to read others' online habits though.

Can someone please help me? I've seen some really sub quality hubs out here. I write well and yet my hubs are being unpublished and continuously picked on for sub quality. I'm offended. You're making it not fun to be a hubber. http://vivbounty.hubpages.com/hub/firew … -plus-help

Recently, I tried to insert a link to another hubber’s article into my hub. It didn’t work for some reason, so I had to list the connection as an http. I tried the insert function capsule in the hub design, and also inserting the link directly into the body of a paragraph.) I’d...

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

I find it hilarious that Hubpages pushes the concept of helping new Hubbers yet my Hub which has had very good reception by the community has been flagged for being both overly promotional and substandard.I had 5 social bookmarking links, and 2 other links to free tools absolutely related to the...

I know there is a rule about "self promotion in the forums."I just want to clarify what it means. Does it mean there is a blanket ban on all links in our own posts that link to any hub we've written or site or article we own?ORAre we allowed to post our own hub links if relevant to the...
