   How do we know that Islam is the fasting growing religion in the world?
   
   I saw one mosque in my city.  I see less than one person/group per month with traditional Muslim attire on.  I do know some people from the Middle East but they don't speak of religion.  Some will speak of their country or conflict with the United States.  I have never met anyone who became a Muslim other than guys who became Black Muslims in prison and girlfriends of these guys.  That's not a slam but a fact from my experience.  How do we know Islam is growing?

   As I have said before Christianity is not actually a religion. "The way to be right with God in every religion is by earning your way.  It is based on works, not grace. Christianity is different from every religion in this aspect: all other religions (including Mormonism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism) state that you must earn the right to be reconciled with God.  It is by what you do in this life (good deeds or bad deeds) that determines your eternal destiny.  Christianity is completely different from this. It is not religion.
   
   'The difference between Christianity and every other faith in the world is that all other religions are about man trying to reach up to God.  Christianity is about God reaching down to man.'

   Religion is the creation of man and is not the intention or design of God.
   
   That said, Islam is not a religion of peace as is becoming more and more apparent every day. No one is ever compelled to believe in Christianity. In Islam, and this is practiced throughout the world by Muslims under current laws in Islamic countries, the actual punishment for the apostate ranges from execution to prison term to no punishment. Islamic nations with sharia courts use civil code to void the Muslim apostate’s marriage and deny child custody rights, as well as his or her inheritance rights for apostasy.Twenty-three Muslim-majority countries, as of 2013, additionally covered apostasy in Islam through their CRIMINAL laws.
   
   It is a crime to convert from Islam to any other religion punishable in many Muslim countries by death.
   
   How can any religion that compels their believers, forces them under the penalty of death or at the least, conviction of a punishable crime, claim to be "growing". That sounds more like communism than a religion.

   Fastest growing does not mean it is the largest group in the world ... it just means it is growing at a higher rate than others. "Traditional muslim attire" is not a requirement of being a muslim. If your middle east friends talk about religion they could be seen as the haters of the west and probably fear being deported for a crime they did not commit. it is wiser to stay quiet for survival of your family.

      It seems that counting births is a way to pad the number.  Births are not counted in Christianity because that is not how one becomes a Christian.  It seems like comparing apples and oranges.
