   Was it a scraper?
   
   90% of my hubs were visited in a 1 hour period, and in google analytics there was no location showing

   A scraper can be an informal term to spell it out a modified American-made luxury/family car, usually a Standard Motors model on the 1980s to present vehicles, typically superior with after-market wheels.

   A scraper is a fighter. It is someone you don't expect to win but they have the spirit and the guts to be in there anyway. It is an old term going back to at least the depression years of the 1930s.

   The first word that came to mind was Sky Scraper. But when you go a little deeper, the word "Scraper" has many meanings. Take the "Fresno Scraper" a machine for scraping the ground. There are so many uses with the name. An old American family car, or a musical instrument. It could be what your wife would use in the kitchen. Scraper is even in the world of medicine.
   But what may interest you, is that your questionable word is in the computing world and appearers as a "Scraper site." These sites evolve around the theme of spamming, which in the last few years have multiplied many times. These sites can be used for gathering information in the advertising world, but can also be used in the field of "Plagiarism."
   This could be the answer to your question and why you received 90% clicks in 1 hour. It would be a good idea to check in Google, Yahoo or Bing to see if any of your articles have been copied.

   Software that scrapes data off websites... If it's functioning through a proxy server, there would be little chance of google analytics knowing where it comes from.  (Perhaps it's associated with this trend of people's hubs becoming suddenly spammed, all in one go). Bots sit on servers and navigate across the web, scraping...
   
   That is my understanding , anyway, of a scraper. Sometimes to lift people's email addresses left in plain view, sometimes just to info gather...

      Thanks for commenting - I've had identified spam in analytics, but it always had a location of Russia or Indonesia
