   What will the modern world be like if WW2 is Japan and US vs Britain?
   
   US' history museum lately added a 1930s classified document that is only declassified when Bill Clinton was President. It was US' plan to conquer the British Empire.  During those days, US saw the British as a major threat, a lot of old people also recall, Americans in their days, hated the British.  Japan during that time, also wanted to destroy Britain, but think if they do, they would be at war with the entire western world, which is more then they could handle.  So, WW2 was US and Japan alliance VS British Empire, what do you think the world today be like?

   I think that you should write a hub on this, and educate us with the details of this plan. FDR was president then, and he was a staunch supported of the British, and he gave them aid for a year before Pearl Harbor.

      The plan to conquer Britain was dissolved due to the rise of Hitler, at first the US plan to let Hitler and British destroy each other then conquer both, but they soon realized the British was too weak and US need to reinforce them

      Who was behind this plan? We were in a depression, and we also knew what Hitler was doing in Europe. I have never heard this, and we have problems getting the people to get behind any wars, even against our enemies.

   We wanted to control the Pacific too much to ally ourselves (see Korean and Vietnam Wars). The War in the Pacific was a brutal race war. In principle, Japan wanted Europeans (Dutch, British, French, US and Portuguese) out of the Far East altogether so that the east could be under the sphere of influence of a local world power. In practice, Japan was under the authority of a militaristic fascist government that wanted to brutalize China (currently undergoing civil war between fascists and communists) and Korea. Then it wanted everything that the Europeans controlled in the Pacific.
   Before the war began for the US (and even shortly after it began) the right wingers in the US military wanted to make peace with Germany and destroy Japan and the Soviet Union--the former because they were Orientals and the latter because they were "Commies" (and quasi-Orientals). I guess what I'm saying is there was no way the US could ever fight the UK in 1941. The UK twisted the US government's arm to get us into the war since 1939. The American people didn't want to get into the war because we had got nothing out of World War I. But we didn't hate the UK.
   Now in WWI, we did hate the UK. The majority of US citizens between 1914 and 1917 were of Irish or German descent. President Wilson dragged us kicking and screaming into that conflict.

      Well that is war for you.  In fact I think Afghanistan and Iraq is the first time civilian aren't been drafted into a modern war. Because too few career soldiers are KIO (god bless those 21st century armour)
