Is Calvinism biblical?
Do you think that the 5 points of Calvinism can be systematically and flawlessly interpreted by scripture?
My opinion (as a former Bible teacher and researcher) is that *some* parts of Reformed Theology (Calvinism) are Biblical. You see, the Bible is an extremely diverse book with regards to it's teachings. Many believers vehemently affirm it's homogeneity, but deeper analysis along with a healthy dose of historical criticism proves that the New Testament in particular teaches different shades of some doctrines, and some contradicting ones.
Some passages seem to support Calvinism, while others follow a more Arminian strain. This is a centuries-long debate that probably will never be resolved because the Bible supports so many different teachings, resulting from having different authors and having been compiled over hundreds of years.
The bottom line is that a believer will see what they want to see in the Bible. The staunch Calvinist will give you verse after verse that he thinks supports his beliefs, as will the Arminian, Catholic, Baptist, etc...
absolutely NO NO NO NO IT SAYS I NEED TO MAKE MY ANSWER LONGER BUT THE ANSWER IS STILL NO
Nice! I like your answer. It's something I've been researching and trying to figure out. I used to lean Calvinist, but now I think both ways have flaws. I like my Pastor's term of being a biblicist.

If a doctrine or belief that is taught by the Church today was unknown to the 1st century Apostolic Church, is it a valid doctrine? Is it inspired by God, or is it a false manmade doctrine?

I feel that believing in one religion is not practical. Likewise, there is no way of knowing if there is one God, or any God for that matter. I'm not saying there's not either, though I do trust science it only goes so far... Some things will always be left unexplained. The bottom line is that with...

Why would a biblical, loving, caring "creator" allow the potential rape of baby girls? (Numbers 31:7,17-18)"They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man........Now kill all the boys And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves...
