Should We Consider Home Remedies over Medication? Is it a better option?

Do you think that home remedies are better or Medications? Of course we do know that these meds are all drugs and can have certain side effects on our organs and the mental state...So should we consider natural home remedies that are healthier for us?

If there is empirical evidence and science based facts that would indicate the home remedy is the best option, I say go for it. A lot of pharmaceuticals has nasty side-effects that could likely be avoided by taking a more natural route, but for serious illness ALWAYS consult a medical professional and be sure to ask about home remedies vs medications too.

There are industrial drugs from natural sources like willow / aspirin, artemisin (now identified as anti-malarial), quinine (standard antimalarial), Pacific Yew (breast cancer treatment).
The issue is that most of the most effective such remedies are already identified and used as such. Most other homeopathic remedies have little use, though I read the interesting study on how unsterilized honey had pathogens that actually fight staph infections.
In general, most homeopathy is no better than over the counter drugs, in part because the best natural remedies are already used in medicine.

The unfortunate predicament of homeopathic or ayurvedic practice is the lack of scientific and clinical documentation. Both of them take care of source of pain and ills while the industrial preparations are mainly attending to symptoms.

I prefer homemade medications instead of waiting at the hospital for like 3 hours and then doctor giving me acetophenone that I can buy at Walmart..

I would say it depends on the condition.  Yes most herbs have been used for thousands of years to treat many health ailments and conditions, they have been around a lot longer than modern medicine.  For conditions such as any type of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, these are more serious conditions and can have life-threatening results if not treated through modern medicine.  Of course if we ate like they ate in those days, we might not see an epidemic of those health conditions like we do today

Its true, it depends on the condition.Medication is also good as doctor prescribed and home remedies are also good. Sometimes home remedies work best and medicines work best.  Its said that home remedies are always a good option to take disease from body, though it takes time but it cures the disease completely.

Some medication have some side effects too, but its not always that all medicines have the side effects. It depends on the person's condition for which therapy its body reacts better.

Modern medicine has gotten very good at treating or curing a huge number of health problems. However, drugs aren't always the best route. For things like high blood pressure, a change in diet or exercise routine is going to be far better for you in the long run than knocking back some pills every morning. Home remedies should absolutely be considered for some conditions, like colds or toothaches, but if the problem persists you need to see a doctor. Home remedies should definitely not be your first course of action if you are diagnosed with something serious, like cancer. Some diseases need to be treated aggressively with modern medicine, and using precious time on home remedies could end up killing you. Home remedies should also be checked to make sure there aren't harmful components to whatever you're using.

Medications are so expensive and sometimes they are more likely to cause allergies or some don't even work... they are just temporary...Home remedies are natural and good for you...so why should we choose meds instead of something that's healthier?
