Is it still "the economy, stupid"?  If so, who does today's economy favor, Trump or Hillary?

The current economy is far better than the one Mr. Obama inherited 8 years ago when unemployment was at it's highest and still rising from the 2008 market crash brought about by irresponsible banks.

You may not agree.  I have spoken to more than one Republican who thinks a 20% or higher unemployment rate is preferable to having a black president. They would sell their soul to have GW back in office doing his worst as he usually did.

So while our economy is not ideal and could use some improvement, it's still way better than when businesses were going broke, banks were failing, and people were unemployed in droves as when Mr. Obama was sworn in.  Since the improvements were made under the Obama Administration they would naturally favor Hillary as it was Democratic measures that made the difference.  Our improved economy is certainly not due to the obstructionist policies and actions of the Republican Party.

Republicans have stated again and again that their main goal and purpose for existing is to do their best to make President Obama's Administration fail, and indeed they have done, and continue to do their best towards that patriotic end.  Can you think of anything Republicans could possibly be more proud of than causing a Democratic president to fail?  Of course if our president, whoever it might be, fails, so our country fails, and ultimately we all live with failure in our lives.  What a great goal to work towards and pray for!!

Republicans nearly succeeded in destroying our country during the GW Administration as history proves, but they are people who like to finish what they start, and so they have continued to obstruct every effort of the Obama Administration to turn our economy around.  Despite their best efforts to the contrary, our economy is stronger and better for most people than the one GW bequeathed to the American people 8 years ago.

I don't expect Republicans to understand anything I've written here  because they are people who will cut off their nose to spite their face just for the sake of doing that.  After they have cut off their own nose they will blame nonRepublicans for their own deed.  Personal responsibility applies to other people, not themselves.  The ones who have told me outright that the economic conditions GW left behind when he finished his last term were better and preferable to current conditions are more than a half bubble off.  What sane intelligent person would hope their own country would fail?

I can only say I think you've said it all, Au fait.  What concerns me most about the right is their refusal to accept any responsibilities for their failed policies and presidencies.  If  you look at when this country was at peace and prosperous, you have to look at the last two democratic administrations.  It's taken Obama a while because he had so much to repair and has been hampered by Congress at every turn.

Trump, because Hillary is the establishment candidate. She was Obama's Secretary of State for several years and mostly wants to continue his policies.
And when things seem to need a dramatic change, people vote more for the non-establishment candidate.

It took politicians from both parties to bring down the economy. In 2008, both  parties, and most of congress were campaigning for 2 years, and in that time the economy collapsed.

The economy didn't rate the critical issues in the presidential campaign. No one saw it coming, and no one knew how to handle it. The 1.5 trillion dollars didn't help the people that lost their jobs, their homes, and many of them lost their marriage.

The financial industry is still out of control, jobs are still going overseas, we are still in debt for trillions to China.

The real cause of the economic meltdown were the professional politicians who made the decision not to do anything about the real estate bubble that followed the dot com bubble. Every time a bubble bursts so does the economy. But to have two in a row without congress taking action is the problem.

The dem and repub can't work together to solve a common problem.
We have seen what the politicians have done to the economy, so Trump can't do any worse, and the politicians can't do any better. But, Trump is the only one that has a chance to make it good.

We keep hearing about Trump and his four bankruptcies, but the gov can't go bankrupt, they just print more money and loan more money. That keeps the economy going, but it is worse than bankruptcy.
Bankruptcy is a business tactic to give people and companies a chance to save the company or give it up.

The government couldn't survive in the private sector.
What Trump did is go from the top to the bottom and back again 4 times. How many people have done that?

The Clintons were bankrupt when they left the WH. How do you go bankrupt when all your bill are paid by the taxpayers.

Even bankrupt they bought a 10 million dollar property in NY. And what do either of the Clintons know about living in the private sector. That is where most of the people in the country live. Trump lives in the private sector.

Clinton lives in the trough of public service.
Who do you think is paying her healthcare?
For those of you that say Clinton is the choice to fix the economy.
What is her experience in doing that?
A life in public service is not helpful because the government didn't do anything for the economy. Not for the people, but if you are a fed employee the gov gives them the best and most expensive benefits, retirements, paid leave, vacations, job security. At the expense of the taxpayers.

We the private sector hurts, why shouldn't the government feel the Burn?
