There is nothing that fascinates me about the dark. For the most part, the same things that are in the dark were also in the light before it became dark.
I think it isn't so much a fascination with the dark as a fear of what may be lurking in the dark. We all know people with less than good intentions often choose to do their deeds under cover of darkness. It's easier to sneak up on people or to steal something sight unseen because of darkness. As a result, people are less confident in the dark.
There are also a lot of people who indulge in the occult or things that are mysterious or even evil. What they don't understand is that by thinking about these things, worrying about these things, they give them energy and invite these things into their lives. Such things do not have to be invited twice, and are usually early rather than late to accept any invitation.
Many bad things have happened in the dark over the centuries, and people naturally worry that one or another of those things might happen to them in the dark. Whether it's a burglary or some other illegal act, an accident because one can't see where they're going, or something from the underworld, knowing that bad things have happened to others, or even perhaps to oneself in the past, makes people nervous about the dark.
Fortunately we have some great flashlights on the market, and I have an excellent flashlight on my smart phone. The dark is useful and desirable in the right conditions, but knowing that bad things have happened to people in the dark naturally makes most people concerned they may have a mishap in the dark themselves, if they venture into it. There are precautions one can take, and I certainly recommend making use of them.
The dark is a time of silence & contemplation. Many people are at their most creative in the dark. The dark is the time when people can be at their most relaxed as the cares of the day is gone. The dark is a time to reflect upon the past & think about the future.
The dark has a velvety texture to it. When one sees the night, it is an enveloping of beautiful blackness. Darkness is a time where people can explore their true, unconscious selves. The dark is unlike anytime of the day. Many people are afraid of the dark because they are loath to explore their true selves & explore things which are considered to be taboo by societal standards.
The dark is a symbology of what is considered to be forbidden, taboo, & against the rules. It is a beckoning to explore what is considered to be so-called forbidden, taboo, & unconventional. It is going beyond the beyond. It is testing one limits & boundaries. It isn't vanilla but a deep, rich dark chocolate. It isn't just steak but a sumptuous steak tartare garnished w/herb sauce & topped w/caviar. It isn't catfish but a decadent sushi platter topped w/uni & akura. It isn't just a mink coat but the most expensive darkest sable.
The dark is the beginning of all. It is the true alpha. First there was darkness & then came light. Darkness is where all life began. Darkness is both mother & father of.......ALL.

Can't bad things just happen? Or, do bad things happen for a reason? Some people act like it is one's own fault that one gets cancer (e.g., not eating right) or getting robbed (one acted like a victim) or even for suffering a natural disaster (for putting out a negative vibe). What do you think and...

Are you afraid of the dark? If so, why? What is it about the dark that makes people afraid? Do you think it is culturally dependent or universal to all cultures that many people are, to some degree, afraid of the dark?

Why did God do it?When bad things happen, I often hear even believers ask that qusstion. I also often hear non-believers say when a tragedy occurs ...'Where is your God? Why didn't he prevent this from happening?'What are your thoughts? Do you think God allows bad stuff to happen?
