What do you think of demands made to colleges and universities by their students?

All over the country, groups of students are making large and costly demands of their colleges and universities.  These demands include:  the firing of certain professors and removal of deans who are probably white and therefore represent "white supremacy,"  the renaming of buildings named after any particular person who may have owned slaves in the past, the creation of a diversity center, segregated housing for POC, and mandatory sensitivity training for staff, and a new curriculum of diversity studies.  Failure to give in to these demands can lead to protests and "escalated consequences."

The demands for black only housing, set aside jobs and special privileges is racism and segregation and should be opposed.
And parents and the public at large need to rein in the colleges giving in to these busybodies. It does no good for young adults to say "ban what I don't like or I'll throw a fit" and graduate to the real world and try to make such demands of employers, neighbors, associates.
No one will hire someone who thinks they have the right to scream at a customer for wearing a political T-shirt the person doesn't like. No one wants to live near someone who thinks they have the right to assault people who use the biologically correct but politically incorrect pronoun of a celebrity. No one will take seriously an advocate whose entire position is "I'm upset, do what I say or I'll get more upset, behold the power of my rage!"
And those same "advocates" risk getting shot if they take their current lessons on disrupting college meetings and political events to the modern equivalent of mob justice in someone's yard because how dare you not adhere to SJW moral checklists.

If the students don't like it they can leave. They aren't being forced to go there. There are other students that would probably love to go there and NOT cause problems. Don't give into them. The same as paying ransom.

The problem is that these views are privileged per political funding, so this IS the mainstream and politically pushed dogma at all colleges. Backed by Title 9 and the DoJ.

All historically biased references to slavery need to be urgently removed of course, including the names of buildings. Would we defend neo Nazis who fight to preserve Hitlers house or Nazi references? No of course not. Would we defend kkk references? No, unless we had a racist agenda.
Past slave masters should be relegated to the dust bin. Living racist leaders need to be dust binned immediately as well; racism has nothing to do with education or commonsense.
Implied references to white supremacy such as statistical imbalances of teachers or professors urgently need to be rectified.
Hate speech is not free speech. Insulting bigoted historical references in architecture or art are institutionalized hate speech. They should be seen as historical oddities that no longer have a place in a free modern society. Such anachronisms belong in remote dusty vaults for psychological study or with old jars of formaldehyde.

At what point do we stop editing people from history because they don't fit today's moral standards?
Should students protest a Barack Obama library because he opposed same-sex marriage until he "evolved" after the 2008 election was over?

Or for American flag burning while in college?

Sorry, free speech encompasses hate speech.  The point is that you're supposed to be able to speak your mind.  It's because snowflakes are easily offended that we can't.  Besides, hate speech is in the first ear of the beholder.

If burning the American flag is hate speech, then that means he hates America. If that's the case he should have left instead of becoming president. That is unless he had another agenda. Think about it. ??????

The things that define real humans are  human rights eg. Racial and religious tolerance.
Totalitarian societies remove human rights piecemeal.
Are you defending Hitlers legacy too? What's the difference to Adolf and a slave master? No difference.

Oz--in the case of Hitler, that was hate speech--"kill the jews."  But saying most of things people have issue with today is not really hate speech; its that they just can't handle views different than their own.  And history can't be changed.

Old history as an issue. Student activism began to be studied at 1920 or 100 years ago. Yet, it is traced back pre-Civil War.
