Almost October--Who here is on for Nanowrimo in November?

0I know Lita Sorensen and Robert Robert Sloan are going to do it this year and I'm going to do it. I thought it would be cool to start a thread for those of us who plan to take the plunge to share our progress and ideas

It's free to sign up. You basically commit to write a 50,000 word rough draft novel in 30 days in November. Some of the novels written have been pulbished by real publishers (not vanity presses or self-publishing).
You can start groups there, and Hub Pages already has three people doing it, so we could start a Hub Pages group and come back and hawk our novels here.
What do you say?

I have a rough outline, part of a first Chapter, and good instructions on how to proceed from Shadesbreath. Who else is on?
To write a 50000 words nonsense....I don't know.
Maybe if I have time. I can't see what's in it. Can you tell me ??I'm good and fast writing nonsense. The thing is : is it worth the trouble ? Only if one wins, I think

It's just been on my list of things to accomplish within my lifetime.
Nanowrimo will make it easier, I think...because it'll force you to write 4 pages a day and not be too critical. You know you'll have a novel (or at worst a good start) at the end of a month and a lot of editing to do. No merit critique, which for me (and my inner critic!) can be the biggest hurdle.

Cool, we should keep this thread up and egg each other on.
Tantrum--It's worth it if you get a rough draft manuscript out of it, because then you can 1) say you've written a novel and not be lying, 2) Clean it up and send it out for publication (which can theoretically lead to $$$ though not usually), or 3) Self-publish it at Lulu or somewhere like that at hawk it yourself at Amazon and here at HP.
If you never wanted to write a novel, it's definitely not worth it though.

I agree. That's how I'm using it--as a self-motivator to get at least a rough draft on my desktop. Once you have that, you're good to go. Then it's all tweaking and obsessing and finding a publisher.
I'm doing it! It's for a class this semester, though, so we started a little early to fit our schedule. I'm 12,000 words in. It's a crazy, ridiculous idea that I think is genius!
I can't tell ya how many times I've started something and obsessed over it to the point that it never gets finished. With NaNoWriMo, you have to just keep pushing through to keep your word count up.
So cool to know fellow hubbers are doing it, too!!!

12,000 words is awesome. You're a quarter of the way there! And it isn't even October never mind November!
Very cool.
I never write for money! I couldn't know how to do it. Only a creative writer here !
