Is Hubpages trying to be a Facebook clone with "status updates?"
HP adding a new "status update" with the ability to add a picture - makes me wonder if they think people are going to use the site like Facebook. My take is they should be doing things to attract more writers instead of features that most people won't use.
I hope not. The last thing the world needs is more Facebook clones.
Yes I agree, not sure what it's about. Maybe I'll have to look into it.
This is not a new feature. Hubbers have been able to add a status update with a photo for a long time. There is a bug that is causing the 'add a photo' checkbox and the submit button to display without typing something in the status field. This issue has been reported to the engineers and will be fixed soon.
Good to know - the entire site seems a bit wonky today
On Internet Explorer, the top toolbar isn't fully functioning and images aren't showing up - Firefox it's fine
The status feature reminds me of blog sites wherein people write about themselves and what they are up too.
My concern is: If the status content appears when doing a Google search, it might affect Hubpages ranking on Google.

Difficult to believe, I know, after all the shenanigans we've experienced for the past three months with traffic rising or falling 10 or 20% every other day.
