   Three spiders this morning! How do you control pests in your home without using toxic pesticides?

   Only three? We've got 'spider city' in our cellar and around the house, that I only see when I break the webs to reach some things I need. Spiders keep flies under control. Without the spiders the flies would lay their eggs on your food and everywhere (such as the fruit in the bowl on your coffee table/sideboard, or the bread in your bread bin).
   Superstition has it, that if you kill the little ones (money spiders) you'll lose any wealth you've got. As the spiders live on insects, they don't harm you or your food stocks. Make friends, give them names... But don't let them get too big for their boots!

      I am not up to making friends with spiders in my house. I am sure there are more than three spiders. I am worried about the others. Yes. I can see the benefit of having them around to eat other insects. Daddy Long Legs eat Black Widows is a blessing.

      As I said, Kenna, spiders in and around your house cut down the flies. Cut down the spiders and the flies lay eggs on your foodstuffs (they get in everywhere). Keep the peppermint spray for your rubbish bin (aka 'trash can')

   Hi Kenna, I use pepperment oil. I use homemade cleaner with thieves oil and vinegar. The combination of the two keeps away. I spray around my house windows on the outside too. I works good to spray used tea bags for some insects too.

      Great ideas. I have peppermint oil and use vinegar on ants.  I have never combined them. I will give it a try. What kind of tea bags?

      any tea bags, after you make tea you soak them in vinegar and oil. They hate it.
