Is wood from the Bradford Pear tree good for burning in the fireplace?
My hubby and I have a giant Bradford pear tree the split in half during the storm a week ago and I cut the large limbs into logs to fit in the fireplace, but I do not know if they are good wood to burn. Could someone tell me about burning them in the fireplace?
Bradford pear can be used in the fireplace. This is not a really hardwood but burns nicely. Let it dry for up to a year and/or save some for using in a smoker. Because Bradford pear blooms are so stinky and they are rather brittle when mature, using them for firewood is maybe the best idea. They are fast growers so a person with property could have a steady supply.
Thank you RT, I placed the stack on the driveway for someone to pick up, but no one has.
Maybe you should plan for some fall fire pit fun!

Does a wood burner add value to a property? We have two chimneys, a smallish one in the living room which we use for wood/coal fires, and a large chimney/fireplace in the dining room. The idea would be to invest in a wood burner in the dining room to create heat in that room, but also hope the heat...
