What is considered a "very low score"?

   I just read Jason's article on what HubPages did to beat Squidoo, and I noticed this:
   
   "4. We checked all articles for copied content, and applied a score penalty to those with content already published on the Web (even if they had rights to republish that content). Those articles with very low scores were not shown to search engines."
   
   So, what is considered a "very low score"?  I'd like to hear from someone on staff, please.

   A hub that is heavily duplicated will have a lower score.  An author's that uses duplicate content on many of their hubs will also have a lower score.
   
   The lower those scores, the less visibility a hub or author will have in the internal link structure of the site, which translate into less search engine juice.  There is no magic threshold, it is just a continuous scale based on score (and to some extent score relative to other content with the same subject matter or tags).  In addition to this, hubs with a score below 40, and author's with a score below 75 will have "nofollow" applied to their links.  This won't prevent a hub from appearing in search results, but it will tell the search engines not to "count" the outgoing links on the hub.

   I signed up a long time ago for Hubpages and didn't post any hubs (I was just checking in to see what the hubub was about). Now I've started publishing but my hubber score is really low, even though I have no duplicate content! I'm sad now.

      All of your hubs are still new and only a few hours old, so don't worry just yet. It usually takes a little time for a hubs score to go up.
      
      You can see that your oldest one has already started to climb...

      I too noticed a big drop in my user score and it went down to about 16. Just keep up with the unique content hubs, be active in the forums and just generally active on the site and it will climb a few points per day.

         Good one Relache! I just looked at Mine's hubs. I'm a CPA and posting an accounting standard verbatim as a hub is useless to 99.99% of hubbers let alone silly.
