   Which way should a toilet paper roll be put "on"?  Over the top?  From the bottom? Does it matter?
   
   Some say, that the way a person treats his or her toilet paper roll, explains a lot about their personality.  I for one, insist on going over the "top", and will even "correct" one sometimes.  It also tells a lot about your pooping and peeing habits.  What are your thoughts on the matter?

   Most of the time when it comes "over the top". It spews out way to much paper. then you have to roll it back up crooked. Of course there are those that just let it fly so the cat can find it.
   Be compassionate consider how horrible it would be if you didn't have any paper to worry about.
   The worst calamity on earth is to get the flu or a cold and run out of paper.

   Good answer...you gave some interesting details to consider.  I've asked this question, to several acquaintances and, like you, the discussion led to other possibilities.  My daughter in law simply shrugged her shoulders and said under the bottom because, if for no other reason, it looks better.

   The top is widely considered the "correct way" - just ask my wife and she'll tell you.  I've heard that the debate was "settled" when someone looked at the original patent documentation and in it there was a picture with the top view showing.

      Okay, the patent info does kind of make it the right answer...but, does it?  If your wife said it was the other way, she would be right again!  Around the house, people are loving your answer, thanks.

      There is a reason they chose to picture the patent that way: IT BOOSTS SALES! This is not an accidental propaganda technique. The proper way, if you want to save money, is to pull from underneath. Otherwise you risk wasting paper.

   Whatever is mutually agreeable.  Little details shouldn't be allowed to turn into insurmountable issues.  Flip a coin if need be.  Life is more important than tushie tissues!  Hubby & I compromised & we're content.

      I married late in life & was glad to be past the angst of youth.  Too many people, teens to middle 20's, need to get a clue about real life before hooking up in a serious relationship.

   In the perfect world, the person who accepts the task of replacing the roll should be able decide according to their personal preference. Butt... I mean but... if this causes unnecessary rancor and discord I would say let them have it their way. It's not worth getting you undies in a twist about it.

   I actually know the person who was on the propaganda team for TP back in the day. They WANT you to put the TP over the top, as it wastes more paper and boosts their sales. If you pull the TP from underneath, their studies show it will last a lot longer...which would be bad for them!

      Okay, now that is a big point that I am trying to discover.  I think you are right.  I think there is a viable economic aspect that should be considered in the final decision.
