I recently logged back into my HP account after a roughly 7 years hiatus (I opened and operated a restaurant & general store and didn't have time to write) I got my start writing for Ehow and later wrote for DemandMedia. I like the freedom of HP. Things look pretty much the same around here, but are they? What's new?
I doubt there is one thing that is the same as seven years ago
There are too many changes to list them all. The main development is that HubPages itself is now just a holding site. The best quality hubs are moved to the niche or vertical sites.
The best thing to do is review the Learning Center: https://hubpageshelp.com/ and spend some time on the forum picking up the threads of what you already know and what has changed.
Welcome back.
The biggest change is that all hubs must pass a quality assessment program, which means the they must meet certain requirements in order to be featured. If they are not featured, they cannot make it to the niche sites, which is where we all want our hubs to end up.
You no longer can just put ads anywhere on your hubs or as often or they will be snipped.
I agree with my colleague, you need to read the learning center info and try writing a hub or two. I also suggest that you read hubs from people here who have high hubber scores to see how they are formatting their work, etc.
Welcome back!
I was thinking the quality assessment program was new, I couldn't remember. I noticed the ad warning right away in my drafts and knew that was new LOL
I did things backwards and started writing before checking out the forums. That's pretty par for my personality I suppose. I've written 5 articles since logging back in, all were featured and a couple moved to a network site. So, I'm not doing too bad for being rusty.
I was hoping to come back and find HP had added a way to give a "thumbs up" to articles, comments and such. At least something of the sort, that'd be sweet.
Thanks for the welcome back!
Sounds like you're doing quite well considering the circumstances. Hope your good luck continues.
Thank you! I'm glad to be back!
I figured the familiarity was only surface deep. Although, it's nice to come back to a platform that at the least feels familiar. I am really digging the network sites. What a great development.

Evening. I'm new; so, I'm not aware if I made any overlook the rules on forum posting. With the article approval, is there a way to find what mistakes and rules that relate to unpublished articles so I know in what area I can improve and edit? The links are very helpful; but, they have too much...

Hello! I used to like to really like the community here but stopped. I re-joined to write some hubs on the Pandemic as nurse. HP will always have a special place in my heart. I was able to meet the CEO and his wife and some of the early team in San Francisco years ago, and...

Hi folks,After an absence of about four years, I'm slowly returning to HubPages and thought to start by cleaning up broken links. After I did that, I suddenly started getting messages on all the hubs I cleaned up saying "Your Hub Could Be Featured!" So, it looks like my good deed is being...

Lately I have noticed how most of my articles that have been there for a long time, are being marked as not featured. And even after trying to "fix" them they are placed in the same stage over and over again. Considering the kind of "pay" we get for our effort, it seems kind of...

I know, it's going down and down for everyone. We have good writers, good editors, and the game plan is similuar but different, to keep up with the internet. But this month was very disappointing. I've been writing for HubPages for 13 years. Amounts should hold steady or go up. Is our...

Just received HubPages Editor email telling me I had 25 Featured Hubs and that I am in the top 3% of Hubbers. Is that really the case?Only 3% get to the point of having 25 featured hubs. How many hubbers are there, then?I've only been writing hubs for just under 6 weeks. 25 hubs written and all are...
